cheers macca... Have checked the level and it was completely bone dry! so that would explain the whine and confirm i definitely have a leak somewhere!
Had a good look around the steering rack area tonight and it looks like the source of the leak is from the 2 pipes at the back of the rack. Had a quick look online and seems a common problem for it to leak from the seals. But question is, can i just replace the seals or is it a whole new rack?
Also what are peoples thoughts on trying a 'power steering stop leak'? Think this is simuliar to 'rad weld'
CLICKY
probably not a permanent fix but if it solves it for a year or so i'll be happy lol
Any advice welcome guys...
Thanks Austin

Alright guys, I have tried to use steering fluid called 'slick50' this seems to have slowed down the leak but still getting spots on my drive. Looks like i'm going to have to replace these o-rings. They look a nightmare to get to without lowering the subframe.. :/ is there a write up anywhere on how best to do this?
Thanks
Austin

They are easy to get to. Jack the car fully up at the front and go in with one hand from drivers side and the other from the back. If you havent f****d the rack yet with that stupid gunk stuff I recommend you flush it out as soon as! Its a get me home thing, nothing more

That stuff just swells the hydraulic rubber seals as a temporary bodge, its NOT a long term fix.
