I wonder if anybody could help? I have a 206 1.4 LX. It seems to have developed a problem when being driven during warm up, specifically when the engine temp gauge is at 70c. The problem only lasts a short while, 30 seconds or so then it is absolutely fine.
When I pull up at a junction/roundabout to check and see if the road is safe for me to go, the engine idle speed drops too low and when pulling away it starts to die as if it is going to stall. It has stalled on me a couple of times but I have started revving it to stop it stalling now. On my journey to and from work this happens on two quite busy junctions, which is quite dangerous if it was to stall during the pull away. The car would only have been started up about 3 or 4 minutes prior to this happening as it happens in the same places on my journey each day and as I say once it has got past this fault/temp the car runs totally fine. There is no engine light on and I am not sure what can be causing it. Has anyone had this or any ideas what could be causing it to happen?

ICV? Mine used to do it intermettently as it was warming up on the drive to work, sounds similar to this.

Clean the ICV and throttle body with a cloth and some carb cleaner, (about £6 in halfords for a 500ml spray can)

I did follow that guide, up until step 14. I couldnt locate my MAF/MAP. After I put it back together the car felt more responsive, it didn't have this idling problem for a few days but it has slowly crept back to misbehaving again. So, what can I do now? could it be something else causing this?

Seeing as I only happens at a specific temperature then I'd suspect personally the ecu temperature sensor. You could test it with a meter if you had patience but they're about a tenner so no drama. From distant memory it's the green sensor closest to you at the back of the rocker cover, maybe on the right? But that really is pushing my memory.

Temp sensor for ECU is green.
I would clean the ICV again, especially as that previously gave you a temporary cure.
The MAP sensor is towards the left side and on the rear of the intake system after the throttle. Sorry I no longer have a 1.4 8V so can't directly check and my recollection is a little poor.
The MAP is a sensitive sensor so clean by spraying with carb cleaner only, no scrubbing or scraping as that will damage the sensor. It has an electrical connector and, if I recall correctly, is held in place with a single bolt.
