So, as you do when you're 18 with a car, I went for a cruise, decided tonights journey would take me down the local petrol station, to put 1p's worth of the finest unleaded into my tank. Turned the car on, BRUMMMM, oh, the joys of a glasspack exhaust. Pulled off my drive, done the usual, three miles per hour due to the speed bumps infesting my local roads. Got down a side road, and opened it up to a glorious 31mph (I'm rebellious, you see). Then, it hit me, fwaah, this is sounding really meaty tonight! I joked with my brother, "hah, exhausts probably fell off!" so when I got to the petrol station, I thought, "why not check", and well, it was gone...
This is why you don't use exhaust mounts ladies and gentleman... Always get it welded.. Doh
On the bright side, my car looks pretty... Minus the gaping hole where there should be an exhaust, of course.
Can anyone recommend any exhaust brands for a 1.1? I want a rumble, I want something loud, but I don't want to wake up my neighbours or anything silly like that? I may buy another cherrybomb otherwise. Just feel like trying something different, ahha

Save your pennies and buy a car that will have the performance to go with the noise.
For now just fit a standard exhaust. Nothing more laughable than hearing a loud car set off from traffic lights only to see it being left standing by Grandma on her mobility scooter.
Where abouts has your exhaust come off from? I thought my backbox had given up a few weeks ago, only to find when I crawled all the way under that the clamp between the centre pipe and back box was that badly corroded, it wasn't holding them together. £5 and a bit of head scratching from the dealers soon sorted it out.

You might have to fit a standard .. MOT are clamping down ... I saw a Corsa failed because of the cherry bomb ... the guys were cutting the exhaust off to sit a standard one to pass it!

Just the backbox:( The cherrybomb had a custom bracket welded (by yours truly) to fit onto the standard mid section of the exhaust system, then was clamped down accordingly... Apparently not clamped well enough!

I've got my standard back on for now, I'm currently in talks with torqueflow as the guys have done work for friends and family before. I'm not going for a loud and farty exhaust again, it's more of a looks thing as, lets face it, the standard box looks silly, haha:) We're going for a slight rumble, but upon take off, and movement, pretty much silent, if floored, it has a bit of noise to it, but nothing super duper. Sweet:)

I find that when I floor my 1.1 there is a bit of noise. But nothing special ... Especially at a tonne of revs

Totally agree. I love the sound my 1.1 makes as it reaches the redline. I'd like to get a ram air intake like the ones made for the GTI but don't think it'll fit. Also a little too expensive for a student

I do enjoy the sound of the 1.1 with an air pod on it, well, up to 3,500 revs then it sounds poo again;)
