Right, i have myself a nice old 206. It's a late 51 plate, so it was one of the last pre-plex 206s.
It's okay, but it isn't great and I want to make it look... better.
I have some ideas , and I wouldn't mind you guys' opinions on them.

My basic idea is to change the interior to something a bit less drab and old.
It basically goes like this:

The stuff in orange is stuff that i would like an honest opinion on, but feel free to give opinions on the other bits as well Very Happy

The colour scheme is going to be black interior with cream leatherette to match the pillars, and i want to accent some of the interior in either black or cream to match.
things I want to do are:

Interior:
-Change seats (current back seat doesn't clip in properly)
-Change door cards to black door cards with cream leatherette
-Get a black dash (either fit another or somehow colour the one i have without removal, suggestions please)
-Change colour of tweeter covers to cream?
-Change all other grey panels to black
-Replace drivers side door seal
-Get stereo to sit flush with the dash, as it sits quite far in and it limits the inbuilt iphone dock movement

On a side note, while i do these i want to:
-Find the source of the wind noise and fix it on the passenger side
-Replace weather proofing on all doors (possibly adding insulation)
-Build and install custom sub enclosure to sit nice and snug in the right side of the boot (my one takes up 70% of the boot at the moment) and to make it look like it is incorporated into the boot
-Add white foot well lights that work with the interior light i.e. when opening doors etc.

The exterior mods will be:
-Replace frosted lights with crystals
-Replace rear lights with phase 2
-Get GTI front bumper (I like the fogs)
-Colour coding black trim all around
-Phase 2 boot strip
-Debadge
-Get spoiler?
-De-wiper the back?
-Colour coding wing mirrors and front wiper arms?

In the future (when the gearbox inevitably goes pop):
-Replace 1.1 engine with 1.4?

I had an lx in same colour. I change my dash to a black on (very easy to do) and made soooo much difference. I will see if I can find a pic.

Did you remove your whole dash then?
I know some parts the easy to take off but I imagine it's abut of a hassle taking the whole lot out.

Black looks so much better though.

That looks sweet! I can't wait to get my hands on a black dash now!

Does it just lift off once the bolts are removed then, or are there other things that need I be removed as well?

Been a while but from what I can recall u need to remove, speedo, steering wheel (and the shaft + ignition barrel etc). pass airbag, head unit, heater control, handbrake surround, and a load of bolts. Then main dash will come out.

When removed will look like this......

Christ! It's a fair but more work than I could probably do, but hey, I'll give it a bash :')
It's looks like it's well worth the effort though. Looks damn good afterwards

I didn't see that you live in raunds. I'm just down the A14 in Burton Latimer

Right, so after removing the back seat and my space-hogging sub, I didn't get the new seats (I'm picking them up on Saturday if I'm awake on time)
So I decided to roll around with nothing behind the front seats until then. After driving to work and back I've realised that there is an awful lot of road noise and wind noise coming from the boot and back seat area.

I'm going to add some soundproofing mats that I've ordered on amazon to try and stamp out the noise before I put the seats in. I might even be able to stop whatever is rattling back there while I'm at it.

Interior:

-Change colour of tweeter covers to cream?

Yes. Would look really smart if it matched the a/b/c pillars and roof lining.

- Get Spoiler

This is preference. Can't go wrong as long as you like what you see:) I personally think they look good with and without. I only got one for mine as I got it cheap. If you've got the car lowered and looking sporty, I think they do suite better.

-De-Wiper the back?

I've done it and I think it looks great! looks smarter when the cars de-badged, which you're doing:) If you're one who feels you use the re-wiper, don't do it! I personally never used it, so was no bother to me getting rid.

-Colour code wing mirrors and front wiper arms?

Personally, I wouldn't. Wing mirrors, maybe, but only if you'd remove the b pillar vinyl on the door. Another idea could be gloss black wing mirrors with gloss black b pillar vinyl. Down to you.

Wouldn't do the front wiper arms, though.

-In the future (when the gearbox invevitably goes pop): replace the 1.1 engine with a 1.4

Not worth the time, get a 1.6 or 2 litre in there if you do plan an engine swap. May as well go big if you're going to spend the time.

Well I have always been told go big or go home haha Smile 2 litre it is!
And I've already removed the vinyl from the door pillar, but only on one side
I got lazy and it got wet so I couldn't be bothered to do the other side yet haha

I'm glad to see someone's opinion on the tweeter covers though. That was one part I wasn't too sure about! Smile
