Hi since I bought my 206 HDI GTI 5 months ago, intermittently the eml light has come on along with an anti pollution fault message. I have always put this down to poor diesel as it always went off again or seemed to when I filled with Esso fuel or put a does of additive into the tank. When I took it in last week for the DPF delete and remap the fault light was off and not visible so they would have been unaware of it. Anyway it has come back on and my first thoughts were to take it back and get them to sort it as it must be related to the DPF removal. This afternoon I thought I'd check first with my code reader before I took it back as it could well be the problem it's had all along and it's come up with "turbo charger boost sensor A circuit high" cleared the code for now but expect it to return in a few days time as it normally does before it goes out again.
Had a quick search but mine seems to be the only one with the problem that is intermittent. I'm leaning towards checking electrical connections ? any of your thoughts or opinions appreciated guys and gals.
Thanks.

Perhaps also should have mentioned as it may well be related that for some time now occasionally when accelerating the car will momentarily hesitate, but not all the time. When it does this there are no visible plumes of smoke when I check in the mirror and it drives perfectly not throwing up any faults or warnings. Also the fault light doesn't seem to come up when the turbo is boosting but when it is cruising at 40 mph ish off turbo

What was the fault code?

Possible causes
- Boost pressure sensor harness is open or shorted
- Boost pressure sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty boost pressure sensor
- Faulty Turbo/Super Charger
- Engine over temperature
- Ignition misfire exceeds the calibrated threshold
- Faulty Knock sensor (KS)
When is the code detected?
This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0238 will set if the boost pressure sensor signal is above the predicted range.
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
P0238 Description
The boost pressure sensor responds to pressure changes in the intake manifold. This pressure is created by the turbocharger and changes with accelerator pedal position (APP) and engine speed. The engine control module (ECM) uses this information to assist in diagnosis of the barometric pressure (BARO) sensor and to provide engine overboost protection. The boost pressure sensor has a 5-volt reference circuit, a low reference circuit, and a signal circuit. The engine control module (ECM) supplies 5 volts to the boost pressure sensor on the 5-volt reference 2 circuit, and provides a ground on a low reference circuit. The boost pressure sensor provides a signal to the ECM on a signal circuit relative to the pressure changes. The ECM monitors the boost pressure sensor signal for voltage outside of the normal range. The ECM calculates a predicted value for the boost pressure sensor. The ECM then compares the predicted value to the actual signal.

Thanks macca, hadn't seen that bit of info, very interesting and certainly some pointers there.
