Hi,
I had a new clutch fitted 9 months ago and a couple of days ago on way home i went to accelerate and the car went up to about 30mph fine but then the revs shot up.
If I accelerate just by resting foot on pedal gently car very gradualy picks up speed, as soon as I put foot down the revs fly up again.
I have also notices the clutch pedal is very easy to press 3/4 of the way then the last 1/4 it feels spongy.
The garage was a cash in hand jobby I called him and he said bring it in, this was Tuesday and he said he would look at it which he did, he drove it around the car park and said yes something definatley isnt right with it the pedal doesnt feel right.
He said i cant get anyone to take it apart today but maybe thursday or friday. He has had the car since Tuesday and I called him today to obtain updates and he said, its not going to be today or tomorrow most likley monday. I got my sisters partner coming over this evening to take a look as I collected the car from his garage to get a second opinion. Im due to take car back to garage tomorrow. He seems willing to have a look at it but i dont want him to try and blame it on something else as he said there is no way a clutch should go in 9 months.
He said something must of caused it, at the time he fitted a new clutch cable also, so i dont know what else there is that could cause a clutch to go in 9 months.
Any ideas please. I did notice that when he fitted the clutch the bit point was quite high on the pedal but thought maybe its just as it is a new clutch so continued using it. over the past month when pulling off slowly or revering slowly i.e to park there was a slight juddering accompanied by a metal knocking sound. My mechanic was planning on taking a look at that at the MOT in 2 weeks.
I drove to work fine that morning and then on my lunch to go home this happened, strange. . .
Does the 2003 1.1 have hydraulics involved or is it just cable ??

Self adjusting cable.
Its perfectly possible to ruin a clutch in a very short space of time if the operator abuses it.
People that rest there foot on the clutch pedal while driving OR those that sit at junctions with the car in gear & clutch down are the 2 worse offenders.
When the new clutch & cable was fitted, was the pedal adjustment checked / adjusted with the stop bolt?
When I had my clutch & cable replaced the pedal stop bolt was out of spec & needed adjustment.

Hi, I have been to the garage today as they said they have fitted a new Valeo clutch and put it back together and they said the clutch still is not clearing properly and is worse with the new clutch than it was before i took it too them.
I have taken some pics as I was sending them to my other mechanic whilst there for his advice. They are on my Google Drive on the link below:

My other mechanic cant see why they are struggling with it so much, he said they are practically one of the easiest to do.
Going away on holiday on Friday so need this car fixed asap.

Your input shaft looks a bit worn. I'd replace that and make sure its greased properly before a new bearing went back on.
What do they mean its not clearing properly?

Here is an update:
Garage has said that the only thing he can think of is if the forks are slightly bent or if something is slightly bent. He has sent the bell housing part (bit with the fork in) to a gearbox place so they can compare it with another one, take measurements etc to see if any of it is out of place.
I honestly dont think this is the case, I think its something to do with the self adjusting clutch cable.
the car has had 3 cables go since i owned it.
1st one snapped.
2nd replaced when 1st clutch went
3rd one was replaced with 2nd clutch.
He has said he is sure that it isnt the clutch cable as its highly unlikley a car would get through 3 and he has said that there is no way a 3rd one could have gone in 9 months.
Im just concerned this maybe an excuse for him to say oh this bit isnt under warranty and you owe me £200 or something similar.
