So I got my exhaust replaced a few months ago on my Gti 137, the exhaust that was on originally was basically budged into place and the new one looks completely different but clearly the correct exhaust.

Any way, the new exhaust gives a rumble, gurgle when shifting down. Going from 4th to 3rd gives a fair amount of sound,no backfiring or anything like that just a gurgle really. it's a nice sound but just wondered if this is normal?

Also, the tail pipe of the exhaust is chrome but already starting to rust??? Is there anyway to stop this, the rest of the exhaust is fine just the tail pipe.

Cheers

Use some autosol to keep the chrome clean.

The only time I have heard it in the past is accelerating hard when between gear changes, very minimal and hardly noticeable and downshifting to early will occasional cause the exhaust to gurgle but mainly she pops and bangs.

With the rusting you can also use a 50:50 baking soda & water mix to remove stubborn stains, let it sit for half hour then go to town on it with a toothbrush or boars hair brush, whatever you have at hand.

The cheapest and easiest way to protect once clean is to clean it up with an old microfibre cloth and then coat it with some WD40.
It'll need reapplying daily as the exhaust will burn it off over the course of a day.
