Hi,
I have just checked the oil on my 2001 206 HDMI and I couldn't get the dipstick back in. After 10 mins or so of wiggling I eventually managed to get it in! I have not had this problem before.
I have read on other sites that the dipstick tube can become detached but I can't find any reference to this on a Peugeot. Has anyone experienced this? I haven't had chance to get under the car to see if this is the case.
Cheers

Hi and Welcome!
Has the end of the dipstick become damaged? Usually if the metal protrudes through the plastic the dipstick gets stuck on the way down.

The dipstick tube would appear to be in 2 pieces. One external and one internal. Sadly that's all I managed to gather from the diagrams - Hopefully someone else on here will have experienced a similar issue and will be able to help out.
Best of luck

My old car used to do it and twisting didn't help (in my case). I just kept trying until it worked.

Hi,
Thanks everyone for your replies. The external tube seems to be sound so I'm hoping it's just 'one of those things'! I can't see anything internal.
I tried twisting but it didn't make any difference, just 10 minutes of trying with crossed fingers! A bit worrying though.

As far as I can tell as long as you're not leaking oil it's all good. As long as the tube is attached in both places then you'll have no problems
