i have a 1.1 that refuses to idle apon start up but will idle if you kick it c**t in apon start up any suggestions on why it does this?

i was told this could be due to lambda/oxygen sensor
i believe its a ground issue as before it cuts out random dash warning lights come on, i know its not alternator as have checked this. (as i am a college student i cant take it to a garage so any help is really appreciated)

Thanks
Josh

Have you considered it could be the Idle Control Valve?

Check out our excellent guide to cleaning the throttle housing

Do all of those steps anyway, not just the ICV and see if things improve.

have followed steps to clean butterfly valve and icv and map car now idles at 1250revs (cold).
did not get to warm up as i have a problem with my charging system - car charges but not fully e.g like loose ground or bad connection as battery seen 14.3 volts and then will randomly go to 12.46v (battery surface charge) and then back to 14.3.

this is with no electronics on and this should be why random lights coming on

You need to sort the charging / electrical issue out first.

The engine ecu will raise the idle speed in an attempt to put more charge back in to the battery.

do you know where the engine ground points are?
i know about the one under the battery tray to battery and chassis

and could this connection cause the issue

took the 206 to college this morning and car was idling but up a 5k revs but once engine warmed up it went away, took it in to the garage me and my lecture had a look and turns out voltage regulator is toast on my car, gonna change the alternator next Tuesday.

Gonna put the 5k revs down to not cleaning all the carb cleaner off the butterfly valve or ICV, i presume it was buringing this along with the air fuel mix- i have tried to get it to rev back up a 5k but it does not seem to want to under idle any more(heres hoping it will stay that way)
