Hi All,
I need some advice regarding an ABS Pump for a 1.4L 2005 206.
The garage has confirmed it is the pump that has seized and not just the contacts. They have given me the serial numbers for the pump that is currently on my car (as I know there are a few different types) and has given me prices for a new pump and for a pump rebuilding service. Both of which are very pricey.
He did also say that he could fit a used pump but that the ecu part would have had to have been wiped before he got it. He said he should then be able to transfer the programming from my current pump to the replacement pump but that there's a chance that still wouldn't work.
I'm slightly out of my depth here so can somebody please explain:
1)How I can be sure I buy the right used part (I have 3 codes from my pump and most of the ones for sale only match 2 out of the 3 codes, is one code just a unique serial number?)
2)Are used parts usually sold as being already wiped of the old cars programming? and if not, how can I go about getting it wiped?
3)What is involved when you transfer the old pump data to the new pump and why is there a chance that this process could somehow fail?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks,
J

Contact BBA Reman as they can either rebuild your current unit OR offer a service exchange unit.
A rebuild OR service exchange unit from BBA would be simple plug & play.
I had a service / exchange ABS unit from BBA reman a couple of years back & the service is first class.

Thanks MrBSI,
Do you know the rough price for these?
I'm trying to avoid spending £300 for a repaired pump to go on a £500 car.
Cheers,
J

I know the GTi one is £190 if you send your old ABS pump for refurb - or £250 without exchange.

I think I'm going to chance just getting a used part on ebay and then hoping it can be reprogrammed with my car's details. Trouble is there are so many different names and reference numbers per ABS pump, it's hard to work out if it is the same pump or not.
The codes are:
B555D06FK759
10.0970-114.3
5wk84108
Anybody tried this in the past?
