What originally started as a cheap little run around after my previous car died turned into a massive headache and now a project.
Picked up what I've named "Puggy C**t" because of the bonnet not too long back. Paid a grand total of £175.00 from a guy who couldn't wait to get away!
Told that he had just changed the pads and the brake system needed bleeding, I handed over a little over scrap value for the car.
After getting her back home, she's been parked up next to my ambulance. Managed to actually get a little glance around her over the last few days so here she is!
Generally she runs quite well. At a very quick glance, a few things caught my eye:
> Lambda sensor seems to have developed a frayed wire
> Rear shocks seem shocking
> Temp runs a little high, fan doesn't kick in on the low, only at high (around 95)
> Oil Filter appears to be leaking
> Brake discs need changing
> Rev counter is, well, drunk!
Deadline is November 1st to go through the full car, bring her up to speed including full body respray and general upgrades.
Haynes manual due to be delivered this week along with a load of parts.
Inside the car has already been cleaned out - couldn't put up with the sweaty smell any more! Recovered £21.75 after finding some money under the mats so not all bad! Air bag lights were light up like a Christmas tree but after actually connecting the cables, that issue went quickly!
So what was due to be a cheap run around has now turned out to be my latest project!
Any thoughts or suggestions on bringing her up to scratch would be lovely, first time owning a pug, normally drive vans!

I'd start by looking at the low speed fan relay which you'll find in a vertical rectangular housing at the front just behind the bumper. You can get access to the housing by removing the front grille and should be able to get at it (it's the top one).
Chances are the pins are all corroded on it, and a new relay should sort it out (about £7 from the dealer IIRC)

This could be as simple as the Idle Control Valve needing a good clean.
It sounds like most of the other issues are just a case of change them, and you'll be back up and running.

I had a feeling it would by the relay so thank you for the dealer info!
Alot seems to be because the previous owner ran it into the ground hard and didn't bother even looking at a tyre let alone anything else so with a little TLC and some fresh parts, hopefully she'll run perfectly.
What's the best way to clean the engine bay? Key parts to avoid etc. Obviously the main fuse box and i'm guessing the unit to the far left?
