Thanks VortechS

New track rods and ends arrived today. Didn't seem to have a rubber dust cover unless the plastic thing counts which I doubt. Also ordered MTEC dimpled and grooved discs with the protective coating which should arrive soon.

Rushworth have my cylinder head and 106 rallye inlet which is being port matched to the Spoox inlet gaskets so there isn't a step hindering air flow.

Seeing Pez soon to swap over suspension and then should start putting everything back together.

Ah I see! I shall have a closer look.

Hubs are back now, Febi Bilstein faces and Moog bearings. MTEC dimpled and grooved have arrived also. Rushworth have the inlet back to plumb in a MAP sensor, and have port matched the inlet tract to the Spoox gaskets I have. I should hopefully start to have a bit of time to myself to actually get things on the car soon.

Let us know how those discs are! I just had a look at their website and the prices seem very reasonable!

Thanks guys.

MTEC discs are good to be honest. This is my second set, the first I had on the front, back in 2011/12 and they held up really well on a track day in Donington. I replaced them recently because they disintegrated from being sat in the damp for a year at the place the car was previously kept stood.

I'm happy enough with the hubs, the mechanic who pressed the bearings for me said they look better than new and I'm hopeful the powder coat will hold for a couple of years. I had to aerosol a bit of Electrox inside them as the powder didn't get in there but all is well.

I'm having a day with Pezhdi soon to swap our axles so I will have the disc rear axle, and also his front Eibach Bilstein springs and shocks which I would like refurbished.

OK so a month on from my last update.

Subframe refitted.

Bilstein B8 shocks from Pez's car soda blasted. Waiting for paint. Eibach springs being blasted and powdefcoated but not back yet.

GTi180 master cylinder fitted (I know I need to fit the nuts to hold on) - it was a fiddly job getting the thicker brake lines nes fitted to the ABS unit.

OBP quickshift also from Pez's car. Has since had a black leather gaiter with red stick and a different gear knob.

Gearbox had been soda blasted and I chose to paint this myself in Aluminium Gris RAL 9007 along with the selector bar.

Valve train has been swapped over from the existing head to the head that suits the 106 rallye inlet.

Fitting the springs and dampers back onto the car was so difficult especially with the poly bushed wishbones. Thaks to some advice from Addaz I loosened the subframe down a little bit, and used a block of wood to jack up the hub/bottom of the damper whilst levering the ball joint and fighting it underneath simultaneously.

Isnt it going to be difficult getting your driveshafts into the hub now with the wishbones fitted? I mean as well as connecting them to the gearbox.

They managed to remove OK without taking the wishbones out. I'll think of something for sure.

Good afternoon folks.

There are some updates as things have been rolling along nicely.

The engine is currently being built and I hope to have it back on the road by the end of April.
