If you like it keep it, if you don't then strip/sell it. Simples.

#16: Re: Do I go back to standard? Author: Quarmbo, Location: Bristol & LeicesterPosted: Thu Jun 17, 2010 3:02 pm ---- I agree with what everyone is saying. They are subtle mods, and look really good (if you know what to look for).
Weren't you doing something with the engine with this car?
#17: Re: Do I go back to standard? Author: Ste, Location: Hull -or- The World Of Info CodePosted: Thu Jun 17, 2010 3:04 pm ---- Plans were to put a T16 (If I could source one) in it, else a GTi-6 or 180 conversion..

Author: Ste, Location: Hull -or- The World Of Info CodePosted: Thu Jun 17, 2010 3:09 pm ---- Yurp 'were' because of the thoughts of going back standard, if it's standard I aint doing the engine swap, it was getting modded subtly so when the engine went in it wasnt chavtesticle but the looks would match the power

Which would all be uprated, as would most things, I dont 'buy' power I'd rather 'build' it - I know what your saying, it costs more ect, but wheres the fun in buying power when you could build it and have some feeling of completion of a large scale project..
#25: Re: Do I go back to standard? Author: Jamie, Location: Ring y0Posted: Thu Jun 17, 2010 5:44 pm ---- I'm not saying you should buy power, but there are things like the interior, the chassis, the electronics, the brakes, the potential resale value. You will literally save yourself thousands by selling up and buying a GTi180. There is nothing you have done to your car that couldn't easily be recreated on the 180...
#26: Re: Do I go back to standard? Author: Brian, Location: VVT Land, FifePosted: Thu Jun 17, 2010 5:56 pm ---- If you're wanting more power then you need a 180 in your life. It will take you YEARS to find a T16 engine and when you do it will cost you a few thousand even before it's fitted.

my lame input ... the point of 'buying power' is to USE IT immediately, rather than waiting for various performance parts to be sourced, bought, and then fitted. There's no 'fun' in that, the fun is in the driving of it
#28: Re: Do I go back to standard? Author: Seb, Location: Under your bedPosted: Fri Jun 18, 2010 1:11 am ---- If you want more power, don't start low, and try and build high. Start high, and try and build higher.... you know it makes sense.

Oh I know it all could be easily re-done on a 180, and I know it would cost me a shead load to get my car to the same spec, but thats not what I'm after, I dont want a 180 replica, nor do I want a 180 tbh.. I just want more power actually who doesnt? lol, I know it would be sooooo much easier to get a 180, and cheaper tbh, but idk I want to be different I guess haha!
If/When I buy a new car it wont be a 206 anyway, as much as I love them I wont buy 2 of the same car - Larger engine or not.. I'll be keeping the 206 though and probably track it.. But thats not until a good long while in the future.. Resale value doesnt bother me, I'll get rid of the car when I slam it into a wall on a track LOL!

the T16 was just an option B, I know I'll more than likely never find one (Which soooooooks!) I seriously doubt I'd go straight from the 1.1 and drop such a large engine in anyway unless you all want no 'Code Monkey' as I'd more than likely pile it into the first sexy tree I saw, I'll probably meet in the middle at first lol!

Stop trying to well me your car haha! Yeah I know, it's said constantly on here when people talk about engine swaps.. Like I said, I want to be different =P You know me Ant, I don't follow the crowds and do as they say lol!

Author: Ste, Location: Hull -or- The World Of Info CodePosted: Fri Jun 18, 2010 3:02 am ---- and why has this changed from 'Should I go back standard' to my engine :/ it's not even related lol, The going back standard wasnt to sell the car, nor to fund the new engine, it was just an idea I had
#31: Re: Do I go back to standard? Author: Quarmbo, Location: Bristol & LeicesterPosted: Fri Jun 18, 2010 3:08 am ---- Well, it was a bad one!!
I get what your saying, your not after the looks, styling or power of the 180. You just wanted more power to go with the looks of your car as it is.

That's fair enough mate, didn't want to tell you what you to, only advise from someone who tried to go down that route already, if it's looks you like, stay with the 206, if it's power and thrill you want, save some cash up, sell the mods, sell the car, get something with a bit more go in it
#33: Re: Do I go back to standard? Author: Ste, Location: Hull -or- The World Of Info CodePosted: Fri Jun 18, 2010 3:20 am ---- Yeah I've kind of worked out going back standard wont happen, I like the look of the car too much, and it seems a few others do, more so on my Facebook post lol!
Yup, you hit the nail on the head there, if it had a 1.4 16v or a 1.6 block in I'd just do mods to the engine to get more power out of it, but as I keep reading/hearing with the 1.1 there is virtually nothing you can do to get any decent useable power so an engine swap seems the way forward on this one.. Buying another car isnt an option I'm even going into nor thinking about, I'm determind to see this car through the whole project I had planned.. Styling, ICE, Handling and Power (Not stupid power, but more than a 1.1 lol) The T16, GTi-6, 180 would only be done AFTER I get another car as a daily and convert the 206 to a track car only..

Yeah I know I remember you doing it to yours, the power doesnt actually bother me (well should I say lack of power) it does 70 on a m/way so that's all I reallyyyyy need in reality, it may take abit to get it there like but its all gravey.. These are all just plans that I have that probably wont happen for quite some time lols
I'll save up some cash, buy your engine and chuck it in the rear of the 206 hahaha! Jesus that'd be abit of a mental conversion
