#1: Timing Belt Change? Author: tamatisk, Location: LancasterPosted: Sat Jul 24, 2010 1:46 pm ---- What is the advised mileage to get the timing belt changed and how can you tell if it's on it's way out?
Also is there a way to check if this has been changed without a service history?
It's a 1.4 2002 HDI with 80,000 miles if that helps.

Wouldn't wait nowhere near that long. 60k or five years is generally the rule of thumb for many cars. Prevention is better than the cure

Cheaper to get it changed than having to pay for the repairs later or even a new engine!

I'm thinking of getting mine done soon - you'll be looking at around £130 with parts and labour if you get a decent deal.
