I've worked it out that I can get a lift to work with a co-worker an hour early to cut back on fuel costs.

Ah so the not fuel friendly is moot.

Personally I'd get something with a turbo, but that's me Smile

Not just you Laughing

A turbo is very appealing as is the i-Vtec.

Good choices, but isnt even a decent oldish 2002 / 2003 EP3 Type R over your 4k budget? They are still pulling high 5k.
My mate has a P plate civic thats done more miles than the Millenium Falcon and never been washed and its still going strong and purrs like a kitten.
The type r is a car you can drive comfortably when you want and comes alive when you give it a good spanking - you dont have to murder it.

Type r with your budget, would have to be an early one though 2002 ish.. Also who cares about the image when the guy saying *chav in a type R haha* is left in a could of Vtec and Noise! Mmmmm!! I love to rev past 4k so i would!

I'd still choose a turbo over vtec tho (once again, personal choice/opinion) as the tunability would be much higher and possibly more rewarding (unsure if insurance is a factor in all this).

At the end of the day we can all say what we would do, but you gotta work out what you want from the new car.

TBH if you are 'only' spending £4k on an upgrade you are better off saving-up for a newer car.
The Leon & CTR aren't going to be much newer than your current one and could be just as high mileage-wise. Then there could be issues mechanically (ones that yours has already had).

*if it were me* in your situation I would aim for getting a car for at least £6k and feel safer in the knowledge it is newer and less likely to have issues/wear and tear.

Possible relief of your current boredom with the 206 GTi - make the 205 street-legal and have a blast for a few months LOL

Civic Type R every day of the week. I know people harp on about an image, but the majority of type r drivers I see down here tend to be middle aged men (like my Dad!)

Best Type R I could find for under £4000 and with decent miles
Red Type R

You'd have to be quick, I can't see that being there for long, if not already gone!
