Cadwell went well (cammed clio 172 got it handed to it). all was well with TAT, 80 miles there, 83 laps complete, 80 miles home, no troubles. empty the boot out, shut the boot, clang clunk, exhaust dropped off! good old peugeot! made me smile.
makes it worth fixing tho eh?

Yeah, i will have a quick look tomorrow, im guessing its just come off the exhaust mounts......if not a replacement system aint the end of the world.

Im pretty chuffed, to do 3 trackdays with just oil and tyre changes in between aint bad going for an old gti thats had nothing but time put into it.

83 laps is pretty impressive, how much fuel you use?

I took a full tank to Blyton only managed about 50 laps at 1 and half miles a lap!

I spent just over 100 quid including getting there and back (150 miles)

But i was, and still am, knackered! Had a constant steam of passengers so i felt obliged to keep going.

Maxsport RB5 - so far they don't suit the car and/or my driving style. Too soft for the front really and too grippy at the rear when running road tyres at the front.

Think i will get a pair of medium/hard for the front and try again.
I only ran them for about 30 laps and they don't look great now! (pics to follow).

Although i think i ran them too hot too soon so i wont be too harsh on Maxsport!

Thats proberly why you got more laps than me, I put £15 in which got me there, Full tank at £60ish which was 40 litres and £10 worth of jerrycan back

I had a chat with a few R888 users and they were very interested in them. I think the softs which i got would be ideal for caterhams etc or rears but the camber set up and weight on the 206 means the scrub far to easily. Mediums should sort that.

Biggest problem was changing driving style.

I know it's a bit late but just a quick update from Blyton.

I was a bit sceptical of it to be honest, short, flat airfield didn't really appeal but once we finally got going after the ice thawed I really enjoyed it. Much more laid back than a 'proper' circuit (Cadwell and Croft) and due to it being shorter there were more opportunities to pass people.
Managed 2 black flags... one for my exhaust trim falling off (my fault, I forgot to remove it when i got there...lesson learned) and a second for my other half timing everyone! Although coming out as (completely unofficially) second fastest of the day did ease the embarrasment of being flagged, up until I found out I was second to a girl.....in an MX-5....albeit it a MX-5 challenge championshipy thing winning car...but still....I got beat by a girl in a girlie/mid-life crisis car.

Anyway, time for the expected pictures.....

The exhaust is just about hanging on....

Oh I nnearly forgot to mention, the Maxsport RB5's went really well at Blyton after their awful first run out at Cadwell.
To get them to work well i dropped the pressure to around 25psi ambient, after 4 laps (ish) they were really good. So good in fact a caterham driver has gone out and bought 2 sets as i was out braking him in most corners and gaining on him through the essess. Job done, £140 quid a pair well spent.

As a PSS....

When is enough spare wheels and tyres enough....

I now have 6 spare Foudres, 4 of which will be shod with track tyres, the other two will be spare road tyres and finally 4 14" that i should probably sell!

Stupid cheap a**e Compbrake short shift!
2 grub screws in each collar..... give me a break! like that will work. So there's now four grub screws per collar.

Oh and dont get me started on the quality of the grub screws! monkey metal chinese tat.

New yellowstuff pads are now fitted. I have the new R formula pads and they actually work from cold now. Quite impressed with the life of the old ones, 6000 miles most of which was abuse.
The old pads finally died just as i had finished my last run at Blyton, one of them lost its friction material.
