I don't have an alarm yet all the insurance companies when getting quotes seem to think it does. or does it just have an alarm for when someone attempts to steal it and the imobiliser comes on?

All 206's have immobilisers.
When you turn the wheel without the key it locks.

I know they have immobilisers. and thats not the immobiliser thats just the steering lock. Very Happy I am talking about an alarm.

The immobiliser stops fuel going to the engine if someone tries to start it without the key.

Also to check if you have an alarm, keep a door open and press the lock button. If it beeps, you have an alarm.

that doesn't work on mine the locks just go down and up. Easiest way my friend is to lock the car and deadlock with the key, wait 10 seconds then unlock the car manually with the key in the door. Open the door and if you hear a loud noise.... you have an alarm Very Happy

Or see if you have the disable ultrasonic sensor button....or see if your hazzard light flashes when you lock the car

or best way @Rob2859, check on the servicebox, type your VIN in, click characteristics on the left, and bam, it'll tell you whether your car has anti-theft alarm or not

(Although it is possible someone added an aftermarket one)

depends on trim level, i suppose. my 09/2003 1.4 hdi didn't have one, but i retrofitted one.

on the pillars that run up the side of the windscreen, is there a sensor at the top of each side, or do you have a button next to the handbrake?
