#1: DeadEyePaul's Savage Red *engine done!* d9 Author: DeadEyePaul, Location: Rugby,Warwickshire PostPosted: Wed Jul 28, 2010 4:43 am
    ----
Welcome to my work in progress thread. I started off as a user on here and i was called Rob_Zombie maybe you'll remember that name... or maybe not Laughing

I bought my Peugeot 206 before i could drive, and i'll tell you what.. its not a good idea Rolling Eyes

My uncle had something to do with it, lets just say "I wont go there" its depressing Embarassed

Anyway, lets start with... insane moments?

2005 - 1st got car... couldn't drive and was very bored of looking at a red car sitting on my drive, so ebay it was looking at modifications.

I know what you are thinking Embarassed YYERRRRRKKK, well all i can say is i was paying for insurance for a car I couldnt drive, yeah i know its stupid my uncle convinced me that he would take me out on private lessons... so money was wasted on a car... on a drive! What i really wanted was Morrete headlights but at the time they were 400+

Early 2006 i past my test (after paying what it seemed a year of insurance but not being able to drive) - again uncle was no help Crying or Very sad

I took off those gastly headlight masks/covers and binned them, i also replaced the standard 14" peugeot alloys with 16" fox multi-spokes

Major gappage in the arch, then i was told to lower it.. from lovely forum users off here. But with the 1st year of driving i was told thats a no no as insurance is already at a all time high so i went to halfords and bought a
exhaust cap (i think thats what these are called) Embarassed Laughing

Crazy stuff, i went mad again... (WHISTLES **** ) and went chrome mad!

YUrrrk, i was just sick in my mouth a little bit Wink its not until the high level brake light broke from being soo cheaply made i got a led crystal red led light (looks standard) but its Cool

i was soo drunk with happyness that i made a slideshow of my car and i thought it was the best looking car on the street
s171.photobucket.com/a...1690df.pbw

Still wanting Morretes i bought into the cheaper option, angel eyes

Notice something... still keeping the chrome theme... Embarassed

now... i dont know why, but i started debadging everything...

again... looking back i gag and hurl in my mouth Embarassed

MR DUCK SAYS CHANGE IT NOW

Ok mr duck i will i promise!!! Laughing

Got it!!! got colour coded used headlights off the bay and i got rid of the badgeless grill, also you eagle eyes will notice i got those flat bladed wiper blades Cool

17" vortex alloys

Fixed "Chrome issue"

French carshow 2010

before lowering

Now lowered Cool

Spax VSX fixed suspension (claims lowering 40mm at front) well, its not!! been told by the expert Kyle(gti180boy) @ stafford max drop will be 30mm at front when settled.

back torson has been adusted by 30mm

I asked for 40mm but was talked out of it, Rolling Eyes i like it!! Very Happy

Future plans

-to get stuy to do a nice nice paint correction
-my vortex done in powder white DONE!
-bucket seats. (coming soon)
-calipers done in red DONE

Comments welcome Twisted Evil

Ok, Update! A visit at Birmingham city coaters resulted in nice white wheels (FINALLY)

They removed the chrome badges along with the foam pad that bonded them to the wheels... so I thought what the heck I'll get new ones!

I painted them in Cherry red, closest Halfrouds paint to my car... I LIKE! Cool

FITTED, yeah baby!! Very Happy

Whilst waiting for the wheel badges to dry I was looking for something else to paint... I chose this!

Before painting it look very tired and faded I thought why not!

Looked really good before you did the wheels, the wrap and those roof strips. Kind of like a 5dr 180.

Now it just looks a bit chavvy.

Agree with this totally.

But as you say you like it and that's ultimately what matters.

Not sure if I like it or not. It's got a lot going on and I would say stick with two colours not three. I just don't like red and white though so that's proberly affecting how I see it.

Maybe you will throw up in your mouth in a years time like you did with the chrome Laughing

The plastic roof strips were faded and absorbed wax from
when I'd wax the roof and looked terrible. If you saw it in person you'd like it, sometimes pictures just do not justify.

But tbh if you don't like it; it is not my problem Razz

Where you said you fixed the chrome issue .. how did u change the rear plastic red .. i like it and have these lights hanging about

#27: Re: DeadEyePaul's Savage Red *updated with CF wrap* Author: DeadEyePaul, Location: Rugby,Warwickshire PostPosted: Fri Apr 20, 2012 2:33 pm
    ----
I assume you mean the brake light on top of the rear window? It's fairly simple, open the boot door and there will be two long bolts, undo the nuts and then place a spanner flat against the end of the bolts and lightly tap the spanner with a hammer on each bolt and slowly tap it out eventually pushing those two bolts through to the other side and the light will just fall out. Then just disconnect the windscreen washer hose and power supply. (1st time doing this will be difficult due factory fittings)

Nah I ment the rear lights did you change them or do something with the lense as they look like the same lights just red lense instead of clear to chrome if you no what I mean

Oh haha, I found some red ones that were the same design and swapped them over. There are ways which you can split the plastic on the lenses that involve the oven. I couldn't be asked to try Smile

I had a paint problem with a rear bumper that was bobbling up (painted by a forum member off here) don't worry -dave- it wasn't you! and there was a rear door, there was water runs inside the paint (don't know how this happened) so I took it to the bodyshop to get those corrected.

Then I decided I get the morettes and badge grill done black to match the vinyl bonnet

Thanks mate

The seats I have are from a 5 door and they are sitting in my garage with bin bags over them. They are a red thatched design they still have the runners and they worked like a dream when they were inside my car. They don't have side air bags. I got no idea about the seat belt pretensioners I think they are fitted with the seat belts in the A pillers

I decided not to go for air ride suspension after getting quoted 2,500+ to buy the parts needed then pay again to have it fitted and I would of had to decided where to put the air tank :/

Then I came across Nic_206 v6 206, had a chat with Nic and Gary and I have decided to go for torque/power. But before that happens I need to upgrade!

Ordered FK coilovers(Thanks UZ for the link) waiting for mr postman. Ordered 2 new top mounts (bilstien) and 2 drop links.
The top mounts came and a drop link came (1 still on back order)

I'm waiting for Gary to get back to me about exhaust upgrade.

I will be without my car for 2 weeks whilst Gary has it and it's going to be a painful wait but it will be worth it(will be like a new car)

I already asked Adrian Flux before getting in touch with Gary and they don't give 2 hoots! Dvla will be notified when change is completed.

Vroom vroom

With all the extra intake ect I think it's a tad heavier than a standard 1.4/1.6 set up. I was saying (I) wouldn't run close to 200 bhp on standard lower spec brakes, I upgraded to the 307hdi due to over heating my standard gti setup.

New coil overs are in but getting a pinging sound when I steer Sad and it's too wet to investigate. I know what it is as it happened before. Wheel arch is fouling on steering arm and is flicking against something and pinging. Ordered 3mm spacers to resolve this problem and will look at cutting nice chunks out the arches

Gary stone (look on YouTube) is putting in a Citroen v6 3l d9 said it will produce 220bhp once installed, I cannot wait! Cars front brakes have been upgraded to gti-6 brakes and I have installed coil over suspension. Once engine is in I'll be getting a full stainless exhaust with a 200 catalyst (to keep mr MOT happy)

Hopefully it will be done in time for knock hill in September Very Happy

And does the V6 weigh enough to compromise handling? Just curious Smile

Not sure about the engines weight but it is designed for a coupè.

Looks to fit fine. A wide custom radiator up from with 2x small cooling fans on the front of it and you'll have loads of space still.

That engine in a SW Si would be perfect combination.

Is that because the SW has slightly more weight at the back to give better distribution?

people say the d9 engine has variable valve timing which accounts for the increase in power over the older d8 engine.
but i think it also has a variable length inlet manifold, it definitely has sequential injection and electronic throttle. and the d8 doesn't have any of that. but the d8 is easier (and cheaper) to find and fit.

you may be thinking now about future tuning . . . . but once you get to the redline in third gear, you will forget all of that

. . . . for a little while anyway

Yeah bonnet and roof are carbon vinyl wrapped. If interested you can buy it in a roll and cut to length. Just have a look on eBay, I on the other hand knew I'd mess it up so I paid a company to do it www.carbonskin.co.uk

As for the grills Zunsport/Sp brand search for either, both are the same company, example "Sp grill" is what you'd search for. They crop up quite often on the for sale section on this site but to post on there you need a 50 post count minimum but you can PM (private message) the seller.

Hope that helps!

Lol mpg is terrible at the moment, I'm to blame with careful driving 30 but due to loving the speed/sounds I been ragging it about. I will try and a video when I learn how the gearbox/clutch works as its a job engaging any gear compared to a cable operated clutch.

I have to press so hard to open the clutch sometimes I end up punching the dash (which hurts btw) I can drive off in 3rd without stalling which is amazing in comparison to previous install.

Did he tell you how he converted it from cable to hydraulic?
Is the pedal action stiff or just a low biting point?

It's very stiff and the bite is all the way down(pedal to the floor)

when I used the 206 clutch master cylinder and the 406 slave cylinder I had a low biting point but the pedal was not stiff. (I've changed it now)
I'd be interested to know how he does it.

But you need to call him, because something ain't right.

The top speed video was done by holding the camera and the wheel at the same time. Not easy or recommended.
For hill climb videos I used a variety of cameras and mounts, I was never very happy with the results.
The common trend on YouTube is to have someone in the passenger seat filming (with a steady hand hopefully)

The project is absolutely amazing but...
Which springs/shocks are you using in front?
Stock ARB in the front? Have been any modifications done to the front subframe?
Are your wishbones stock? Any front camber and caster modification ?
Did you balance the weight increase on the car with rear deadweight?
I think a strut brace would help a bit...
Also, how is oversteering compared to the stock one?
Is your car multiplexed or not?
Is the engine ES9J4 or J4S? Smile
Please excuse the number of questions Smile

"gearbox to Peugeot 206" -> Whoa, you mean you kept the original BE4 gearbox ? I assume no since you have the clutch conversion and driveshafts...
D9 V6 is ES9J4 (194 BHP). Was your car MUX or Non-Mux (one or two buttons on the ignition key). MUX is horrible to modify... "Cable throttle conversion" means you had MUX...
Thanks for sharing the info, it is gold.

And now is non-MUX? Was the engine MUXed ? Did the tuner have to "marry" the ECU to the BSI?

I went to the office in northampton and they basically said to me the tax is baded on how much pollution I produce so all I have to.do is pay the same amount as I have been paying for the 1.4 (which I thought was bull, but they are the professionals)

Thinking of getting it turbo-ed possibly just a supercharge. But its just a thought at the moment as I keep seeing new cars and thinking oooooooh. The ford focus RS has a heated front windscreen that melts ice in a couple of secs... and I wish I had that

Any changes visually? And how has the car been behaving now that you have had the V6 conversion for a while now?

Well the Map sensor wasnt plugged in... and that played havoc on my motor. The engine kept stalling about 6 months after I got it back... after a quick scan it was found and plugged back in. No problems since! Smile

No changes visually I simply havent had the time. I have a new job working nights and I usually sleep during the daylight! Haha

How about yours?

All long as you don't have any problems then it's all good Smile

This happened at beginning last year:

Major hassle with garage but they finally fixed it after 6 months. Only got issue with lower control arm at the moment. Missed the 180 so much during that time of repairs that I bought a Lancer Evolution 6 Very Happy
