Bought my Gti back in Feb 08 and since then i've been trying to add new mods when I ever I can starting off with a simple debadging, rear wiper removed and clear rear fog light, this however soon changed for smoked items and then when I purchased a set of clear/red led rear lights from a fellow member off here I went back to red fog. This remained for a while until I decided I really wanted to keep the original idea of a moonstone and black theme, anyway, this is how my car stands at the mo

*UPDATE*

Been thinking alot lately about whether to buy more stuff for my 138 or just save up and buy a 180 since they are going quite cheap these days even for low milage car's, it may take a while but I thought why spend loads of money on mods for the 138 when I really want a 180, the only things I will do with the 138 is sort out bits of the bodywork which need some tlc and make sure other areas are sorted so I can get as much as I can for it when I do sell it

the idea is that they prevent stones from chipping paint from the front portion of the bonnet..where theyre most likely to hit. Theyre becoming quite big on the modded scene but theyre a bit of a marmite mod.

And your car looks really tidy mate! Vortex's will look smart on it and I like the rear lights. But yeah, the bonnet bra doesnt look like it fits snugly and thats the only way they look any good IMO. Apart from that very tasty.

UPDATE 09/10/10

Big update for everyone who wants to read

For a few weeks now I have had my angels fitted and they do look awesome even if there not very bright at night Laughing 2 weeks ago I bought Sonni's orange vortex's and been stored in the garage so today I thought i'd fit them as they were and see what they look like, now there on I quite like it, it's something different though may not be to everyone's taste, they are however in need of a refurb which I will get done at a later date, enough chit chat, here's the pics for you all to admire over

Still have the following to do:
- buy and fit vmaxx coilover suspension
- order my janspeed gti 180 exhaust system
- spray and fit 180 rear bumper
- cc rubstrips
- esquiss badgeless grille

small upate, recently purchased a badgeless grille off a fellow info memeber (chrome vortexs') and thought I would fit it today even if it was a different colour but because its in silver there is only a slight difference but because the clips are a pain in the a**e to remove I am leaving it on until it goes in the bodyshop to be resprayed but also having the bottom edge flushed, so from this

to this

also managed to swap the rear indicator bulbs for some silvatec items and looks alot better, before:

lol thanks Edward, nothing really on the car except the plates gives its age away as the bodywork and interior is really tidy except for the sp arches but now you mention it, I guess it could do with having private plates Very Happy

Well have decided the project has come to an end so nothing else will be done to the pug except for repairing a recent kerb damage to 1 wheel and sorting out the drivers sidestrip, once these are sorted will be saving to upgrade to a 180 and once I have the funds the pug will be put back to near standard

They do... but you only need to fit them if you are going over 250HP.... a supercharger would give you that on stage1 without internal mods Wink

it may not be until after xmas Matt as I won't get alot for the gti and i'm in a job that don't pay well either but just seen some nice low milage 04 180's for just under 2.5k, all with low milage. Most of the bits that get taken off the gti will be put onto the 180 depending on the colour I choose to get

cheers mate, think it's to do with the colour, moonstone is amazing in the sun Very Happy car's going into the bodyshop in a few weeks to have the rubstrips re-sprayed, drivers wheel refurbed and also have my sp fuel cap colour coded with the bolts sprayed same colour as the wheels along with the wiper arm cover, got some black masked fogs to fit and have a spare set of a,b,c pillars to be sent away to be wrapped in alcantara then need to get a new bonnet which will have the washer jets smoothed over and maybe the bonnet vent too

Small update on the pug, didn't win the 180 interior I was bidding on but not too bothered as it wasn't in good condition anyway but on a plus note, car is back in the bodyshop having the drivers wheel refurbed and also having the sp fuel cap sprayed in the same colour as the wheels. Should also have a spare gti centre console soon which along with the a,b,c pillars will be getting the alcantara treatment Smile

Toatally agree about the bonnet bra, I'd bin it been thinking about 1 myself but they look well "wrong". If you are gonna keep it use lino double sided tape to contour it to the bonnet, worked for me on a Beetle years ago and a mk1 golf...

Car is in the process of being put back to standard without spending too much so at present i'm waiting on a gti exhaust system for £40 due to the janspeed being kept for the 180 when I get it along with the refurbed wheels and lights

Today will mark a first of many changes for the pug, will be fitting the factory lights back on ready to sell the 206 after xmas, might be putting on the ph1 lights or the lexus style that came off my brothers xsi, next up will be the exhaust system, picked up a cheap system off ebay to replace the Janspeed however the janspeed will be staying but chances are my refurbed vortex's will be up for sale as well as my current lights and sp fuel cap which has been sprayed so keep a look out on the for sale thread ; )

because I was debating on whether to sell my current gti mate and get a 180 or just keep it, in the end i've decided to keep it as there are too many issues on the car to sell it as the price I want for it so going to sort the problems out and enjoy it a while longer, with that in mind finally fitted my sp bonnet vent and hoping to get some new lights over xmas

so last wknd I started bidding on a 180 interior which was going for £150 at the time but sadly I ended up losing the bid, fast forward to Wednesday night and I get a phonecall from my brother asking me if i wanted the 180 interior i was bidding on as the guy only lived in yelverton and the person who won the bid refused to pick the seats up so I agreed and my brother handed over £230 for the front and rear seats, bargain!! Set about fitting them today and what a ballache they are to fit, especially the fronts!! Anyway managed to get the rears and passengers fitted but will be fitting the drivers seat tomorrow with the help of rttam Smile

the interior so far

will get some better pics up soon and will now have a set of ph1 gti half leather front and rear seats for sale which are in good condition

indeed there is Matt, want to change the steering wheel for a 320mm momo race item, get more of the interior trimmed in alcantara and get a cupra r splitter and wrap it in carbon fibre

Thought since it was nice outside and i'm not working today thought I would take some more pics of my new seats

they do need getting used too but are so much better than the standard gti seats and even the gf likes them Very Happy

next on the "to do" list is the following;

- momo 320mm race steering wheel and boss kit
- cupra r splitter wrapped in carbon fibre
- roof arial removed and smoothed over
- sp arches resprayed
- more interior trim trimmed in black alcantara

but before I can do all the above I need to get the pug services, fix a wheel bearing, replace the leaky water pump and fix the movement in both front wheels

Imo all the car needs is a private plate! just to make it look newer, as the car looks alot newer than it is - Credit to you.

thanks mate Smile

i got the rubber you got for yours and it is fitted in those pics above. think it's because the janspeed wasn't really meant for my car and the garage who fitted it had to weld a small bit of pipe from the cat to the exhaust

no major update other than mechanical repairs lol alot of guys will be aware of the problem i have with the gti, well i'm pleased to say they found the issue, something to do with 1 of the wiring harnesses melting and damaging the ecu

Puegeot wanted pretty much the value of the car (1100) just for the parts alone, then there was the garage bill which i still don't know yet plus another £90 for peugeot to re-programme the ecu, luckily i found a matching 2nd hand ecu for under £90 inc postage and a full engine wiring loom for £21 thanks to Lee aka Philip.

Only issue I have is the garage can't fit the ecu etc til june 11th. Hoping to get the car back before june 22nd before my shoulder op and i'm unable to drive for 3 months, good news is is that in that time i plan on putting the car in the bodyshop to have some work done ready for when i can drive again Smile

I can see that a bonnet bra serves a perpus but they look crap IMO. Maybe on a black car you could get away with it, but it stands out for the wrong reasons on ligth coloured cars.

Big big update for everyone.

After this wknd with the 206 developing another fault, even though it was only the crankshaft sensor I have decided to call the project a day and sell the 206 once i've enough funds to buy my next car.

To summarise what has been to the car, here is a list of mods etc

colour coded rubstrips
sp arches
sp alloy front bumper grille
carbon wrapped front badge
masked headlights (sprayed bmw metallic grey)
masked foglights (sprayed bmw metallic grey)
180 wheels with falken tyres sprayed bmw metallic grey
black led rear lights
black side repeaters
black led hi-level brakelight
black led starburst rear foglight
laguna front splitter
sp fuel cap sprayed bmw metallic grey
debadged all round
rear wiper removed
front calipers painted red
vmaxx coilover suspension
k&n typhoon induction kit
gti 180 rear/front seats
custom colour coded centre console
colour coded interior panels
smoothed/painted glovebox lid
alcantara trimmed dash display cover
Gti 180 Janspeed exhaust system made to fit

If anyone is looking for a nice 206 gti in the next couple of months, keep an eye open in the sale section, but sorry to say you won't be rid of me when I have my new car Laughing

Seems a logical step mate. You cant go any further without going over the top with this now. Happy saving and look forward to seeing the Type R!

I know mate, if it wasn't for this fault i was going to be taking the car to Ace wraps to get the roof carbon wrapped.

Ideally want a type r, dc2's and ek9's are quite expensive and maybe out of my price range so may even get an accord type r but will have to wait and see

Just keep saving and see what comes about. Im no longer selling my 180 as i dont need to commute as far for work so ive just treated her to some new toyos and aslong as the mot doesnt bite me i will keep it for another year.

love this car, if i wasn't scared about it having another problem would make you an offer

i think you should put back to standard and trade it in for a car you want, or sell it standard there's 300-600 £ in in the wheels and seats alone.

your get more selling extras of the car than leaving them on

I know how you feel mate, don't think anything else can go wrong with it, it's just down to age, that sensor i had replaced had been on since factory in 1999 so reckon it's lasted well lol

I want to sell it as it is so i'm not spending money on getting new interior etc

If you are serious about saving money for a new car, this is the daftest thing you could do.
