#1: Buying a 206 GTI Grand Tourisme Author: Matt106, Location: WarwickshirePosted: Mon Aug 02, 2010 9:08 am ---- Im currently a Peugeot 106 owner and im looking for a more comfortable everyday car for work. Ive been looking into the 206 GTI Grand Tourisme's as ive always liked the look of the bigger bumpers and thin front arches. Anyway a few questions I hope you can answer....
How well do the engines hold up when they reach over 100K miles?
Is service history important on these engines?
Is the GTI MPG good? (considering I drive a 106 gti)
Are there any common parts that fail?
Did they do a HDI version of the Grand Tourimse?
Also if you think I need to look out for anything else let me know, thanks.

If it has been treat right the engine should be fine over 100k
Service history is good on any car.
MPG i'd guess would be between 28 and 32 mpg.
Any common parts that fail.......its a peugeot :lol:, id guess the usual ABS rings, O2 sensors etc

Im pretty handy with a spanner so not afraid to replace bits and bobs but the less the better! I do question why I want another french car sometimes lol

I'd try and get one with as low miles as possible with a decent service history ideally. Belts every 60k should be done as well.
Bumpers are expensive to replace, so make sure they're all in good condition.

Getting up to speed/ going through the gears your looking around 20-25mpg. Roughly 25ish for town driving.

Im not looking to spend a lot as its a second car so its going to have high miles. Ive seen a few with part service history but finding a standard one which is good is difficult!
