My car is a 51 plate, XSi 1.6
I've got a bulb out on my heater controls and was just wondering what bulb is it that i need to replace it?
A link to one on ebay would be good.
Also, whilst i'm replacing it, i thought about changing them to red.
Is this possible?
I'm guessing there is an orange filter in there somewhere like the MFD's, so is this filter removable? and then will i be able to change them to red if i buy some red bulbs the correct size?

501s are sidelight bulbs.
The bulbs you're looking at should be 509T bulbs.

And i didn't really want to take it out to check until i had the new bulbs to go in... :/

replace them with LED's if you can Robbo to save them blowing again - because trust me replacing them is a pure and utter PITA!!!
There's no more than 6 in there, I actually think it's 4 IIRC.. But then you can buy 10x509T's on ebay for a quid or so...
Changing the colour requires stripping the controls down (as does changing the bulb virtually) and removing the coloured transparancy filter and replacing it with a colour of your choice.. I'd do this over getting coloured LED's/Bulbs as it softens the light slightly and stops you having light spots on your dials Last edited by Ste on Tue Aug 17, 2010 5:39 pm; edited 1 time in total
