Hey guys, i am wondering if anyone can tell me the best place to go for a gti 180 twin exhaust backbox? I have a HDI with sports bumpers but as it is not the 180 i was told it may need to be custom made because of the brackets being different etc.

If anyone has some info it will be really appreciated Smile

Thanks

Go to pug or try ebay for the backbox, from pug its about £450 just for the back box,

You would need to cut out the bumper to cater for the twin pipes, as for the brackets being different im not sure on the HDI but im sure they are the same on the normal GTI so its possible they are the same.

EDIT: where abouts in Notts are you from?

I think you would need to loose your spare wheel as well due to how the back box hangs.

You would be better getting a custom one made to look like a 180 one

I've got a 180 backbox on my xsi. I got a straight through centre pipe made as the 180 centre pipe was too short. I got a full 180 cat back system (original peugeot) off eBay for £110 and was in really good condition. I've sprayed mine with pj1 high temp paint tho as I've heard they rust quite bad. And yeh no spare wheel and you will need to make a mount on the drivers side for the box to hang on. Hope this is of use Smile

You could try cutting the tips off of a knackered 180 back box and welding them onto a standard HDi back box Wink Cheap and cheerful. Likewise you could spray the whole back box to make it look uniform.

Ergh the original backbox for the 180 is shocking! Mine didnt even last 30k miles before it was rusted through. So it was either £450 for just an origina backboxl from pug or £350 for a scorpion catback... wasnt a hard choice Wink

180 backboxes are toilet and rot after 25-30000 miles, and wont fit unless you lose the spare wheel. Get a custom made one.

Thanks for the advice guys Smile I think going on what you all say about the original 180 backbox being pants and rusting i think i will look at a scorpion backbox which gives the same visual look as the 180. Has anyone already quoted for a custom made backbox from either scorpion or janspeed so i have a rough idea how much may be so get saving the pennnies hahaha! Razz

If you went for the janspeed 180 backbox there is a slim chance you could keep the spare wheel.

Agree with that Smile
i have no idea what the 180 box looks like but we got a mongoose one that looks similar, and we got to keep the spare wheel Razz

the 180 backbox spans the rear of the car unlike most back boxes, where as the janspeed backbox is just like a normal back box.
