Don't just jump in with both feet and take the sump off!
I once had a problem with an old Vauxhall engine. Low oil presure light came on. I took the oil filler cap off when the engine was running and there was plenty of oil been thrown off the camshaft which suggested plenty of oil was being pumped round. I changed the pressure switch and all was fine.

If there's no oil pressure the engine could be knackered already anyway. Unless you really know what you're doing then I' take it to an independent garage.

*update*

for anyone that cares.

ive had my pug hooked upto diagnostics and other gadgets.

turns out my cars pressure is beyond fine when running (should be 3bar at 3k revs... when mines running at 3bar on idle revs) and the diagnostics where saying everything else is running perfectly.

decided it was most probably a dodgey switch, so thats been replaced. time will tell if its worked Smile
