#1: Pikey Chav Scum - Could it be the end for my 206? Author: Ben_206_GTi, Location: WarwickshirePosted: Sun Aug 22, 2010 4:15 am ---- Friday night some thieving gypo tried to nick/break in to my car few pics below.
The cars done a fair few miles now 128k ish and I'm kinda hoping the insurance company will write it off. Anyone had any experience with insurance companies? A new door, spayed and fitted plus fixing the damage to the dent above the door is going to cost a fair whack i reckon. The car can't be worth much anymore. Maybe £1200 if that ? (52 plate)
They didn't manage to actually get in the car, that's probably down to the dead lock.
Ben.

#4: Re: Pikey Chav Scum - Could it be the end for my 206? Author: Ali_H, Location: Chichester, SussexPosted: Sun Aug 22, 2010 4:24 am ---- I wouldnt even go through insurance tbh, you could fix that yourself for £100. Howey had the same thing done but a lot worse and it only cost him £200ish IIRC.
By the time you take into account the rapeage for your next insurance it's not worth it.

Author: wagsy206, Location: Coatbridge, LanarkshirePosted: Sun Aug 22, 2010 4:26 am ---- If I caught them, there wouldn't be much left to identify them with. You could even go to a local breakers yard and get a door. Maybe even get one in your colour. But I'd get it sorted as gypo's will more than likely come back.
#6: Re: Pikey Chav Scum - Could it be the end for my 206? Author: duopkik, Location: prestonPosted: Sun Aug 22, 2010 4:29 am ---- you could put a tiny bit of vandal grease around the door and set a video camera up over-looking your car.

Soon as poss really, even if it's the wrong colour and get it painted later, as I found leaving a hole in my door lock (that was done befor I had it) made somone else try again since I have had it.

Author: pete_206, Location: Ash, SurreyPosted: Sun Aug 22, 2010 5:05 am ---- I feel your pain Identical thing happened to my first car (lil Corsa B) except the lil pikey got in... he was after all the ICE in the car. made a good job ripping the poo out of my parcel shelf, and after realising that wasn't budging (thankyou me for a damn good fiting job ) he decided to go for the cd player. He broke the steering wheel in the process as he (presumably, word of forensics guy) put his foot up on the steering wheel in order to get leverage to rip out the cd player...
Now heres the fun bit In the process of trying to rip out the cd player he pretty much shredded his hand to death. There was blood all over the dash/ seats/ door. Little p***k also got away with nothing as the stuff in the parcel shelf wouldn't budge and for some reason he had dumped the cd player over a fence when he got out the car.
Now to finish it off... he did all this in broad day light on a main road just on the edge of Preston town centre. So ample forensics plus witnesses (including a monk... a monk as a witness! can't get much better than that!) meant the dumb lil gypo got a few months. Hope to finish the justice he also got raped in prison as well!
Now to the point of the thread... don't go down the route of insurance. They wrote my car off. I was young and receiving 1200 for a car I'de bought for a grand seemed like a win win situation... until I got a new car and requested insurance quotes. Thats where the injustice begins. So yeh. If its just the door, follow the other suggestions and fix it yourself. Last edited by pete_206 on Sun Aug 22, 2010 5:14 am; edited 1 time in total

I got a new door complete with all electrics etc for £50, china blue ones are a nightmare to get hold of so as a result I still have a patchwork car atm
Dont go through insurance its not worth it especially as a plexed door will work on a non plexed car

Another one here!
Just make sure you tape it up well. Mine suffered because the door was acting like a slide for the torrential rain.
