No! 1.4 Sport FTW! I just don't like the sound of diesels, so I couldn't see myself getting one Razz As my first car, the 206 1.4 Sport was the fastest car I could get insured on for a reasonable price.

dont worry mate the 1.4 sport will be staying just looking to acquire another one in diesel! lol more MPG yum yum.

do you not find the petrol slightly sluggish? i dont no if its just me due to other 1.4s i have driven lol

i looked at a 2.0l hdi and its about £300 more on insurance thats a fair bit as its already at £3k lol

any figures of the 2.0 been tuned and what you can do to them?

thanks for the feedback so far guys!

How accurate is the information held at parkers.co.uk?

Says this for my car:

1.4 Verve 5d (AC)

(0-60) - 11.6s
Top Speed - 107mph
BHP - 75 bhp

How will those figures vary from car to car or are all same models exactly the same as above?

Figures for 2.0 tuned:
Standard map: 110bhp
Decat, panel filter + map: 115bhp
Intercooler and above 130-160bhp
Bigger injectors and more extensive work: could reach 200bhp.

Smile all figures are variable obvs. and each engine is different :).

Sometimes it's seems to lack power in 1st (but I think that's down to the erratic idle and stall problem). Otherwise it seems ok, but the only other cars I've driven are a 1.1 Ibiza, which was shocking and a 1.8 Mondeo, which is pretty different.

I think it always feels faster in my car than it actually is as it's a pretty bumpy ride and is a bit louder (pug sports silencer). One time I just just went for it in 2nd and it was approaching 70mph before the limiter came in. Not that it means much in terms of acceleration, just you can hang onto gears a lot longer than you'd expect.

Does this apply to my question above?

Yea but the torque figures would be amazing.

Yes. Although they all start pretty much the same, you could have two cars on exactly the same milage, exactly the same year.. Yet they could have different BHP, this is due to engine wear, how they have been looked after etc. Also no car is exactly the same anyway there is no way you can get each dimension the same, it may only be out by 0.01mm yet this will change the engine wear rate.
