Auto trader - Find desired Gti - Compare Performance Stats with other cars! lol

Similar to Fiesta ST Imo.

Cool quite quick then, I compared stats but thought it's best to ask people who own then because then I can get an idea of there actual speed rather then how fast they should go lol

parkers state the fiesta st is 0.1 seconds quicker to 60mph than the gti but the gti is 1mph quicker top end. About the same amount of difference made if you have a s**t to save weight before you get in the car to drive it.

Exactly, I have pulled on a Focus ST before, purely down to him not being a very good driver as he was trying. Over distance, it then started pulling back on me, but should have been much closer from the start.

Erm, asking people on their opinion on the car they own it is a bad way to get results. Who is going to turn around and go "oh it's slow as crap* and gets beaten but <insert car list>" etc? It's like going on a chelsea forum and asking who the best football team is...

There's plenty of people on this site that slate the 206, & loads of members with other, or that have had other cars to offer an unbiased opinion.

A Punto GT? When was the last time you saw one of those about? Only a modified one would be faster. Handling and brakes on the 206 are better.

If you want a rough idea just google the car, find out it's bhp, 0-60, etc, all the usual stats, then google other hot hatches, make a list, job done.

Most GTi's will do 140mph according to their dials!
Heck - even a 1.9d could do 110mph Laughing

I doubt a GTi will reach 140, in any situation. I should think max for a standard would probably about 125 true mph. My 1.4 struggled immensely over 80ish.

lets face it you dont max you car very often so top end dsnt come into it really the GTI is not the quickest small hot hatch but in reality if you can drive then you will loss most things on the road on a back road the 206 handles very well and is very controlable if you know what you doing its like a 17 year old in a M3 and jenson button in a 206 jenson will win every time on a normal road. so the answer is the GTI is as quick as the driver

Yea, think you should look up the facts first before you type!! the C2 weighs less than the 206 and and is exactly the same 0-60 and a few mph short top end!!

What does all this s**t matter,

OP the engine is 140bhp, 0-60 in around 8 seconds in the Gti (although 0-60 times are all bull).

Can be modified but will probably give you some problems when you start.

They are pretty quick but as said about the same as 1.8 corsa or C2's (but not as fast as Mattie McRae's above )

The vts is most definately not quicker than a gti! 100 on the clocks is most likely about 87 true mph. And who cares what beats what. There will, 99.9% of the time, be someone who is faster than you anyway. Always is.

C2 weighs 1084 kg. Dave George weighed his 206 GTi and it came in at 1070kg. So you could say I have looked at the facts.

According to EVO figures the 206 is about 0.5 seconds faster to 60 than the C2. So again it looks like I've checked my facts.

Really guys, arguing about .5 of a second........is any one really going to notice??

0-60 times are inaccurate any way because it depends on so many elements, driver, weather, grip, air temp etc, so what's the point in 0-60's anyway.

Sorry to p**s on your parade mattie but Parkers are notorious for getting figures wrong!

Parkers state that the 180 has a 6 speed 'box.

Parkers is so full of rubbish anyway. Not only that but different manufacturers measure times in different ways. Some with people + full tank, others with 1/2 tank and just the driver. Either way the 206 GTi is faster when in my hands.

Calm down folks, at the end of the day it's close between the 2 cars, however the drivers in each car will differ too so figures are pretty much negligible!

haha!

Mattie, no need to insult Edward, just because he's arguing with you. Sounds like you've been backed into a corner and tried to insult your way out of it. How old are you? I know you love your C2 and think its fast (can't comment) but so too is the gti (when its not cutting out ect!)

I'd say there is very little difference between a C2 VTS and GTi, but I cant really confirm, having never driven a C2. (I go on autotrader stats, which seem more accurate than parkers or your general google crap).

OP - just get one! They're entertaining enough and if you haven't driven anything else of significant power, you'll be pleased.

No maybe i didnt make myself clear, never been the best at explaining things.

So here it goes...

Someone posted you cant trust what people say because they will be bias and not post true results. Then someone posted Saying his old 1.4 did about 80.... I then posted saying i have had my 1.4 upto 95 On the Clock or 90 on the TomTom Which is probably more accurate..

What i forgot to do was quote the post saying i had my 1.4 to about 80...

So my point is You cant trust what anyone says just try and see what you get(Legally)

Still dont make sense? Then forget it.

A 1.4 8v can do just over 110mph, not 95 lol Or is that not the point?

i'd go with that mate had ton out of my 1.1 206 and its not meant to do bob on slightly below but again read 100 on the satnav also. . .I don't think that is the point in the argument though as cant see someone spitting their dummy out over something so small.

My 1.1 pug on the other hand, is a fast b*****d. 100 is do-able without straining the engine....not that I would know, obviously....
