So ive just had an email back from angel tuning about a remap for ze diesel engine, im pretty happy with the pricing and im seriously considering it. They said that ill get roughly a 30 bhp increase and similar gains in torque, does this sound about right?

Anyone on here thats had it done on the same engine care to share an opinion and is it worth the 300 bob ill be throwing at it? Engines just hit 65000 miles and had a full service so should be able to cope with the extra output?

Cheers m'dears

Maybe it's just me but 30 bhp sounds a little optimistic. To be honest I'd never remap anything less than a 2.0l I don't see the point. The money could go towards a better car that even without the remap would be quicker.

Just my opinion, if you want to then go for it.

Im pretty tempted, its at roughly 70 bhp at the moment which is a lil on the low side to be honest! I cant afford a new car for a long while as im at uni and dont have the cash for a new one, but I do have a lil money to throw at it for the moment. Any ideas as to how long they would need the car for?

Fair enough, I'd reckon you would be satisfied with the power after being use to 70bhp for a while just I tend to think about money in the long run, what you can get back from it etc and a remap definately isn't one of them.

Won't take more than a few hours so definately on the same day.

30bhp sounds optimistic Harry? I have the same engined car and it went from standard (67bhp) to a remapped 101bhp !

You do the maths... Wink

Also there is a reduction in turbo lag and feels like the turbo range is increased!

Best £190 I've ever spent on my 1.4HDi tbh!!

Maybe it is ok then I don't have a diesel nor done it myself, but from I heard it was about 25 max. Not disagreeing you are probably right.

Was thinking along the line of 206's (I'm obsessed :D) And the gti was the obvious choice.

if your at uni and on a budget leave it be,enjoy the frugal economy and save your cash for a better set of wheels in the future. your clutch for one could struggle after remap and there not to cheap to replace.ive done a few for people and a couple went soon after being remapped.

Cheers for the advice, im 95% sure im gonna go with this and use a hilarious chunk of my student loan. Its £270 for the remap, or £300 for a remap and an 'ITG Competition Air Filter', worth it for the extra 30 quid?
