provided you got 183 HP and 167 ft/lb before the headwork and piston.

i take you will have around 20% gain;

so about 220bhp and 200 ft/lb torque.

standard longman gti hit 190 bhp and 170 ft/lb with standard valve and 40mm ITB; with larger valves and higher compression surely can pass 200 very easy.

Put methanol injection on your car if you worry about knock with higher compression ratio. But if it is really a race car why you are worrying about engine. We are running 14.5:1 CR on 206 GTI (again 14.5) and it is daily use car. After 1 year we didnt have any problem with them. Even knock. Just a good tuner will listen special knock kit when mapping. And higher CR will give you more low end torque. Not loss. It is everything about tuning.

nice idea Schumi... but we have to provide a fuel sample which must only contain "pump" fuel...... but I like your thinking Cool

220bhp on standard cams? Increased compression and bigger valves won't let significantly more air into the engine.
BHP is a measure of the rate of work an engine can do. The best way of increasing this is simply to fit longer duration cams which allow the engine to rev higher (so it does more work). They are key to a higher BHP figure.

100lb ft / litre is virtually unheard of on a N/A engine.

The Longman engines also had an uprated inlet cam.

I am expecting 190 odd hp but the most important thing is the torque. I am hoping to get 175- 180ft/lb with a lot of it low down the rev range where I need it
