#258: Re: Macs rally 206 project.. Test Day pictures Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Sun Jul 17, 2011 7:25 am ---- We now have an entry to the Hutton Kitchens Woodbridge Stage rally on the 24th September.
#259: Re: Macs rally 206 project.. Next rally booked Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Sun Jul 31, 2011 10:09 am ---- Nice update to the project. Yesterday (saturday) I had a successful meeting with CTM Performance engineering who have agreed a sponsorship package for Engine tuning in the form of:-
1. Gas flowed head with big valves and three angle valve seats, bronze quides and welding up the EGR port in the exhaust, volume match chambers.
2. full bottom end balance and fitting forged rods.
3. port matching both manifolds and modifying the taper on the inlet manifold.
In all a very nice deal so the engine is off to them this week and then it will be refitted and sent down to Wiltshire for a re-map ready for the Hutton Kitchens Stages rally in Septenber.

Well done mate. We will need to get an event together some time!

Will let you know about the new engine and how it performs on the Hutton stages.... then point you in his direction.

#264: Re: Macs rally 206 project.. New engine deal Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sun Jul 31, 2011 2:06 pm ---- Sounds good. Would this all justify some longer duration cams?
#265: Re: Macs rally 206 project.. New engine deal Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Sun Jul 31, 2011 2:44 pm ---- Ed.... in order to keep the torgue figures and the power curve in the lower part of the rev range, the tuner thinks we should keep the current stock profiles as aparently they are pretty close to the 230 duration he would be using anyway..... good news for me
#266: Re: Macs rally 206 project.. New engine deal Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Mon Aug 01, 2011 12:30 pm ---- Fitted the rally computor today.... got a plug for the gearbox sensor.... wired it in..... nothing..... checked the three wires and got earth and signal the wrong way round..... so I guess I fried the sensor.
The crono is working fine but it wont calibrate or register any distance.
Think of your worst line of foul language and insert here
#267: Re: Macs rally 206 project.. New engine deal Author: imjeeves, Location: Glasgow / WellingPosted: Mon Aug 01, 2011 1:35 pm ---- Oops damn wiring!! Yeh Dukeries sounds good mate hopefully can have a 180 that wont blow up by that point haha 3 so far this year
#268: Re: Macs rally 206 project.. New engine deal Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Tue Aug 02, 2011 12:39 pm ---- Anyone got a spare speed sensor for sale.....?
#269: Re: Macs rally 206 project.. New engine deal Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Fri Aug 05, 2011 5:27 am ---- Quick update..... The old engine is on its way to the machine shop.
This engine has been used on various events and was bog standard except the T/B conversion which produced 183.2HP and an increase in torque
This has proved to be very reliable but has suffered from a lack of bottom end puff in hairpins and tight corners. The idea now is to take the engine to the next phase and add some internal mods.
1. big valve head
2. Forged steel "H" section rods
3 mild knife edging to crank
4. full balance.
All this is happening over the next couple of weeks and then the engine will come back to be re-fitted and RR tuning.
Progress will be posted
