I would have to take them off and measure them mate.... I left all that to Gaz when they made it all....you could try ringing and asking what they recommend though Wink

there should be marking on the spring saying the internal diameter, free length and spring rate.

Update.... Back on the rollers this coming weekend now the motor has freed up a bit.... lets hope she has more to give this time and I will be getting the fuel load figures and timing details for those that asked...
New signwriting is now done and we are nearly ready for the Snetterton rally

Just got back from the RR session at Mtech Automotive. Another success as far as the driveability is concerned.

The torque curve is very flat across the rev range with peak torque of 190ft/lb between 3250 and 5500rpm which is immense.

Power is also up, I made the mistake of taking soft compound tyres which were on the car and they really mucked up the rollers. We originally mapped the car on 205/45/15 road tyres which produced a nice contact with the rollers. I had 195/50/15 softs on the car which sank too much in the rollers and overheated Embarassed

We recalibrated the rollers and ended up being able to get a base reading for reference...... Matt then started to re-map the fuel and timing to see what the engine would give us....... 4 power runs later and the final figure was up by 26HP

If my maths is correct we have a rally car with just a tad under 225HP Thumbs Up

We drove the car to and from the rollers in Wiltshire and it returned an impressive 22.6MPG average over aprox 250 mile round trip.... Never again mind.... we are deaf now Shocked

Bad idea taking tyres you going to use to a roller session! They eat tyres like there made out of butter.

Glad it went without a hitch though!

You sure you still have a two litre engine?

Never even thought about it till I got in on the rollers and heard the noise.... Matt thought a diff bearing was gone from in the car..... but outside we could see it and smell it.

Very nice results macj, could you also post the graph (I'm really interested to see the actual torque and power curves?

p.s. 258 Nm?!!! I'll just quote Edward: "You sure you still have a two litre engine?" Shocked Laughing

I will ask Matt if he kept the graph on the screen..... I didnt bother with it.
I have the first screen here and as you can see the torque figure is quite impressive, During the planning of this engine I was adamant that keeping standard cams would produce the best chance of good mid-range power and torque.

The important thing is to get maximum torque low down... that said it shows up here at 3500rpm and is useable through 5000rpm. The second session on the rollers has bought it down a little more and it begins at 3000rpm and is good through 5500rpm. There was not too much torque to be had but we gained 16HP on the 97ron fuel we were using and suspect that with 99ron Vpower we would see about 20-22hp over the last RR session.

Update.... with Snetterton looming and possibly the last two stages in the dark, I decided to fit a lamp pod.... but not a clamp on one.
I got a ford focus pod cheap laying in the workshop so I decided to glass it into a bonnet.... heres the start of the project.....

Mikey2uk will take some pictures of the finished job I am sure Wink
