So Gutted!!

Had a phonecall from my insurers regarding the accident to my 206 a few weeks ago.

There classing it as a write off Crying or Very sad because there valuation of my car is only £750 and the repairs is £600 so they won't pay out, if I choose to accept (which i'm not) would only get £400 because of the excess and the remaining years premiums they said I would have topay them

The other parties insurance company are claiming no claim has been made and is therefore ignoring the issue, the only real option for me is to search for gti's similar to mine and forward them on to the insurance company to reconsider the value or I pay for the repairs myself or just leave the car as it is with the damaged wing

So you can imagine i'm feeling really p**sed off now!!

Sad time mate, dont accept the first offer tho push for more mate. How much would it be to get the car repaired yourself what sort of damage is it?

Gutted for you mate Sad

It may be worth asking local garages for repair quotes if you haven't done so already as they might be cheaper, or source a second hand panel from a local scrap yard hopefully in the same colour or have it resprayed.

a new wing (even from pug) wouldnt cost £600. i reckon you'd get a second hand wing for about £60, spraying about £80-£100 depending on who you know.

EDIT: when i say spraying i mean by a professional body shop, as it would look crap if you tried to D.I.Y it because the area is simply too big for cans.

I wouldnt say the areas too big for cans at all, I did my entire sports front bumper with cans and its come out fine, and my rear for that matter.
The problem you'd have is getting the colour match spot on, your car colour is notoriously hard to match with the existing paintwork, it would probably stick out more because of that than anything else.

Anyway a wing in your colour is £100 tops from eBay, scrappy, on here?
Fitting it is a piece of p1ss aswell, get that fooker sorted out and back on the rd Wink

Depends on the damage, cant just say, replace the wing, could be many things behind it they believe are damage, and replacing with genuine parts aswel as labour ontop can soon mount up.

If you think its guna be cheaper to fix yourself go for it, but what does that mean about your insurance and insurer, will they log as claim, bump up price etc. if they think its worth that, then maybe fix it cheap and insure it third party worth £700 next time, cause at least you know they'd never actually fix it if you damaged it fully comp, unless the otherside paid *which i can only guess isnt happening above/it was your fault*

there is not much behind the wing to brake. maybe just bumper bracket headlight bracket. apart from that just the chassis leg.

They always offer a ridiculously low amount on first offer, mainly becuase some fools will accept it.

Buy hey, that's business!

know exactly how you feel mate just been through all this myself on my other car and then with the missus when some d**k drove into the side of her where they have diverted the traffic from plymstock into town Sad
i sometimes wonder why we pay insurance they charge you a bloody fortune then when it comes to pay out they dont want to know its legalised crime!!!

best just to get it done yourself when i had my little bump i bought from pug a new wing for £85 and whole arch set for £100 and then a 2nd hand bumper strip for £25. local bodyshop charged me £150 to spray it all then fitted it myself so £360 in total using genuine parts Smile nowhere near £600 and the insurance will use crap pattern parts too.
fitting the wing is a piece of cake if you need a hand to fit it just gimme a shout Very Happy
