#1: QuicksilveRS...nearly finished. Author: Uz, Location: No Man's Land PostPosted: Fri Sep 10, 2010 12:46 pm

Got the RS wheels back from the powdercoaters yesterday and popped down to Jefferies Tyres to have a full set of brand new Yokohama Parada Spec 2's fitted.

Got home and got them fitted.

*please note that the bonnet is open in the pictures as my dad was going to refill the gearbox*

I am going to be getting some 10mm spacers for the rears so they sit better on the rear. But need to get it dropped at the back to match all round.

Let me know what you think.

Vortex or nimrods would suit it better.
But it's not my car.

Still due red lips for wheels, custom gel centres with red xsi text and ive got the red bolt in valves on the wheels. Black and silvers abit boring and too over done so thought i might aswell spice it up abit.

Ironic how 'the only set in the country' make them look like vortex clones.
Vortex - often copied, never bettered Wink

Felix. -

Compomotive made 15 set of these wheels which was only 1 run. 13 of them were sent to Europe and sold and 2 sets were bought in the UK. One set by the chap I bought them off who works at Comp and another by a chap who used them on a 106 Dimma Show Car which is no longer in existence due to a burnout.

These wheels are now over 5 years old and when I search for them on Google I only ever find 8 results so super rare is the word I think were looking for.

Wheels are worth £900 + vat new without tyres.

Nobody pays £900+VAT for wheels that look so boring. Even Compomotive. The fact that there are so few about should say something about their longevity & popularity. Wink

Fogs gunna be done now...I've still got plenty of light. I'm very surprised that I can do both lights using all of 40cm of this film with not much excess. I've still got over a roll and a half left. Might have to sell one of them.

I didn't mean it in that way Ste. I meant it in the way that too many people have done it now and I thought I'd jazz it up a bit. But I love the silver and black theme which is why I went for it...but I didn't want it look like every other silver and black car so added the red (which i know is very marmitey).

Mikey I used the Black variant on the lights and fogs.

If anyone does want a roll of the black variant I'm looking at selling one of my rolls as I don't really need it. Will sell for £10 posted to yourself. I've still got half a roll left even after finishing the fogs and I've only got the GT fogs to do now.

If it's the stuff I'm thinking of it doesnt effect it, it's designed in such a way all the light should pass through it as-if it wasnt there Smile

Back on topic, I actually quite like the wheels tbh, look better now the red tapes on them..

#55: Re: QuicksilveRS...nearly finished. Author: Uz, Location: No Man's Land PostPosted: Thu Sep 16, 2010 1:02 pm

Thats exactly the stuff...it'll alter the look of the car but it won't affect the light output. It's like a checkboard sort of thing where it's got tiny little hole very close to one another which allows it too look like it's one piece. You can see the holes up close but at a distance like I was for that pic the holes can't be seen and the further back you do the dark they look.

Thanks Ste Smile

Nice work on the optics. Not too sure if I think it looks better yet. Definately looks good though, haha!

How are you liking it? Did you think about doing them red to fit in with your theme - might have looked tacky though...

I personally love it tbh. I want an agressive front end and with the tinted front it looks alot more agressive. Never thought of tinting the front ones in red as like you said now to come to think of it they would look real tacky.

What I do want to do is get a tinting film that matches the colour of the back lights and get rid of all the different colours and have them all red.
