#1: rttam's other 206 Author: rttam, Location: devon PostPosted: Sun Sep 12, 2010 2:50 am

as some of you may know i managed to buy a y reg 1.4 automatic for the bargain price of £50 didnt really need it but a woman i know bought it to my work as a non-runner and a major water leak i diagnosed that the headgasket was gone also it needed 2 tyres and a battery she said she was just going to get rid of it as it was getting quite tatty anyway but noone would take it in p/x as it didnt run. i jokingly offered her £50 for it and the next day she came up with the logbook mot and spare keys Shocked it even had half a tank of petrol and 3 months mot and tax!

how it looked when i bought it back in april

i stripped all the engine down replaced the headgasket, water pump, core plugs (2 were leaking) and gave it a good service inc the aircon which still works Smile fitted the scirocco alloys i had lying around from my old 206 and it was spot on

then....

after test fitting my gti bumpers before spraying one sunday i ran out of time to whip them back off again so thought id leave them on till i got a chance to whip them back off and paint them.
unfortunately on the way home from work i had a small incident (not my fault but its a loooong story)

despite now loosing intrest and wishing id never bought it i stripped it down

so now it looked like this

managed to pick up a new pattern bonnet for £50 (not really a bargain iv seen thicker tin foil!!)
though as the n/s wing was bent and the o/s wing had a big dent in it when i got the car i may aswell fit some gti wings so sourced a pair of those for a total of £80
also some crystal headlights to smarten it up a bit as the frosted ones were broken got a pair for £40 (although i had to repair one of them)
repaired the orignal gti bumper which luckily wasnt too bad and thank god the phase 2 grill didnt get damaged either used the bit of paint i had bought to paint that and refitted it all

also had lowered it using the ecosse springs and standard 180 shocks i had lying around and fitted the black edged badge and phase 2 washers i had in the loft

have since fitted
front foglights
gti rear bumper
gti tailpipe
phase 2 boot handle
de badged
de wipered
phase 2 rear lights
180 carbon mirror caps
stubby aerial
cd player, sub amp and 6x9s

apart from the foglights i had all of these lying around from my old green 206 still (knew they would come in handy one day Very Happy )

my two babys together Very Happy

next up once iv saved up some money (probably after xmas now Sad )
il be doing the folllowing
fix the huge dent in o/s/r quarter panel (previous owner hit a gatepost)
spray all wrong coloured bits the right colour
fit a sp spoiler
fit a better interior as seats are ripped and dirty (maybe an xsi one)
swap the stupid gearbox for a manual one
make up a better exhaust for it

all comments welcome good or bad

before anyone asks was it really worth it no definately not lol but i just enjoy something to mess about with and the aim is to get it all up to scratch then when i move out and sell my 180 i can keep this Very Happy

What are you going to do after it's been fully tidied up, sell it? and how much would you look to sell it for? Could be a nice little profit.

To be honest in that condition the money needed to do it up wouldn't have made it so much of a bargain, I just find it funny that something that costs thousands at one point can go for a few quid
