#2: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: benbmx08, Location: newquayPosted: Wed Sep 15, 2010 3:19 pm ---- 206 everytime much easier to live with and just as fun.
#3: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: vanman_foci, Location: Barry, South WalesPosted: Wed Sep 15, 2010 3:19 pm ---- 106 is smaller and lighter.
#4: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: Jordan_xsi, Location: IpswichPosted: Wed Sep 15, 2010 3:23 pm ---- 206 is alot more practical and look alot better imo
#5: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: Ditza, Location: CambridgeshirePosted: Wed Sep 15, 2010 3:25 pm ---- 206 don't look like it's gonna roll when you go round a bend lol. Last edited by Ditza on Wed Sep 15, 2010 3:38 pm; edited 1 time in total

#7: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Wed Sep 15, 2010 3:28 pm ---- 2.0 compared to 1.6?
Yes the BHP fiqures may suggest they are closely matched, but its like comparing standard wheatabix to chocolate flavoured wheatabix
Both french, close fiqures but the 206 (chocolate) is better day to day and more practical overal
As chocolate would give you that extra oomph on the day, and taste nice to compared to standard wheatabix where you have to add extras to make it achieve the same and generally taste as nice
Simples

Classic.
Ever driven a 106, or had a passenger ride in a standard 106 GTi compared to a standard 206 GTi?
#13: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: whits87, Location: NottinghamshirePosted: Wed Sep 15, 2010 3:44 pm ---- lol well that made me chuckle i never thought of cereal in that way! I know about specs but surley someone has tried against one lol
#14: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: meady, Location: basingstokePosted: Wed Sep 15, 2010 3:46 pm ---- i have and it was neck and neck to 60 but then after that the 206 pulled away due to the extra bhp and torque
#15: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: Austin, Location: TelfordPosted: Wed Sep 15, 2010 3:48 pm ---- depends on the colour, if it was a sundance yellow 106 GTi then i'd have it over a 206 anyday!
Love that colour!

Lol yer give me some lmao
and when we say 206 gti i am guessing you are talking about the 138 not the 180 because my 180 seems to kill the 106 gti i done it a few times on my private road
#21: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: Jordan_xsi, Location: IpswichPosted: Thu Sep 16, 2010 2:36 am ---- there's no seem about it, a 180 would kill it lol as would the 138 at when you get to higher speeds because of the extra bhp. however the 106 gti is still pretty nippy the 106 just looks chavy when its modded and as people have said you will die lol.
#22: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: twed207, Location: borders, near carlisle.Posted: Thu Sep 16, 2010 3:38 am ---- when modded by a kn0bend, yes they look chavy. when done properly by someone who takes pride in their car or an enthusiast, they look very good!
#23: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: =ZiAn=, Location: SloveniaPosted: Thu Sep 16, 2010 3:51 am ---- Eeeerm are we talking about the same car? The stock 106GTi I know, goes better around corners then a stock 206GTi, has about the same 0-60 and is a bit slower from 60 forward. So saying it'll roll over is just a bit excessive... And talking about chavtastic cars, I think the 206 is in the same league with some people just throwing everything on them making them look like a Christmas tree on steroids.
#24: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: macca-gti, Location: Stoke on TrentPosted: Thu Sep 16, 2010 4:30 am ---- ive owned a saxo vts (wich is basicly a 106 gti) and then gone to a 206gti, the saxo reved a lot higher and 0-60 was in my opinion slightly quicker than the 206. the saxo had a very long 2nd gear tho wich is why it hits the 0-60 in 7.5 secs, however the car does bog down in third due to this, and strugles to get to 100 and this is where the 206 would s**t all over it due to its tourque and better horse power. the saxo handled a bit better also due to its wieght but it realy didnt like wet roads, it would just understeer round the slightest of corners. where as the 206 grips well and you tend to get no drama, you do feel alot safer in the 206 aswell as it just feels solid where as the saxo was made of spit and some kleenex and would undress itself when you hit 90, i constanly had to replace bits for it due to poor build quality. ive personaly never looked back since getting my 206 gti and i love it to bits. i
#25: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: |SGP|, Location: Truro/Falmouth, CornwallPosted: Thu Sep 16, 2010 4:38 am ---- its 100 better
also there's a 206 180 and not a 106 180.. so 206 wins

that made me lol alot you do have a point there but i just think the 206 is more classy shape but agreed you can make them look nice.
#27: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: meady, Location: basingstokePosted: Thu Sep 16, 2010 6:06 am ---- in other words 0-60 is all about the driver but anything other tht the 206 wins, the 206 is beter looking and more modern, and the handling is mucg of a much unles in the rain where again the 206 is beta and the 206 is safer so over all the 206 is beta
#28: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: whits87, Location: NottinghamshirePosted: Thu Sep 16, 2010 11:21 am ---- lol i know i like the looks of the 206 more as it looks more mature than the 106 but not driven my 206 yet i dont know how they handle yet but i do know how my old saxo vtr handles so i will let you know
#29: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: Mattie-RS, Location: A Track near you ;)Posted: Thu Sep 16, 2010 11:30 am ---- If it was a Sundance Yellow 106 GTi then Yes
^^ Looks well better than any 206 GTi 138 anyday!!
I also think the the shape of the 106 is better than the 206, lower down and looks meaner than the tall pouncy looking 206

I disagree mattie i think the 206 is so much better looking inside and out although i bet the 106 is more fun to drive but the 206 is a better car.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
I'd only say the 206 was better if it had a wider exhaust cut out dual exhaust and a 180 badge
#32: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Thu Sep 16, 2010 11:41 am ---- I na straight line they are pretty much identical. Round the corners the 106 is faster than the 180 (Autocar proven - Handling Day 2003).
For everyday use I'd definately go for the more modern, more comfortable, more refined and safer 206.

Your gaaaaaaaaaay.....strange coming out on a 206 forum mattie
I do like 106's and id agree they handle better than the 180.....just.
#34: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: Matt106, Location: WarwickshirePosted: Fri Sep 17, 2010 4:16 am ---- 106 is quicker, ive got one and I love it! Saying that Im also buying a 206 GTI as a daily driver
#35: Re: 106 gti compared to a 206 gti :-) Author: Schnakey, Location: CoventryPosted: Fri Sep 17, 2010 5:36 am ---- Having had an 03 saxo vtr (I know, I know..) a few cars before my 136 gti which was crashed into and written off, I would never trust my life to a 106/saxo again, low speed crash left me seriously damaged, roof rippled, rear axle nearly snapped it bent so much. 206 has 4 ncap stars, does similar mpg day to day and is still great fun to drive when you gert a hoon on, and you can fling it around like a ragdoll just as much as a standard saxo/106. As a daily there is no comparison, safety and comfort with a similar driving experience (steering isnt as good on the 206 imho but it's still nearly as good to drive) win every time.
