AUDIO
Anyways my 'all show and no go install' is what started me off and led me to Talk Audio
It had the centre pyramid amplifier powering the two JBL 1202D subwoofers
Then once i gained some knowledge, i changed the live/earth wiring from a pathetic 10 or 12 gauge to 0 gauge, along with the speaker wiring to 14 gauge. The amplifiers i chose to replace the pyramid were two 3501e's, that i personally thought were ok..... Till i saw the light
Problems arrose as one of the 3501e's died on me suddenly, so a replacement 14001e was bought
But i thought it didnt really have a kick, so a few threads later and the subwoofers are inverted along with the speaker wiring being changed to 10 gauge
As reccomended the TB3 was upgraded to 0 gauge.....
And for my most recent build, the fully adjustable A pillar tweeter pods
(now housing two JBL 17T's either side)
Component amplifier fixed, problem? RCA's being squished
Pictures of my new install so far:

#4: Re: PG Tips Street-Basser Project Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Sun Sep 19, 2010 11:22 am ---- Tis a little loud, but not enough
Going to build the door builds, then amplify them and the A-pillars
Then maybe call it, and move onto the scooby
#5: Re: PG Tips Street-Basser Project Author: Resolutionary, Location: South West LondonPosted: Sun Sep 19, 2010 12:09 pm ---- I have the same sub! I think its amazing value for money..only got the one but its damn loud!

#8: Re: PG Tips Street-Basser Project Author: Jonno, Location: Boston/Spalding LincsPosted: Mon Sep 20, 2010 1:42 pm ---- stupid question ad...what exactly is a street basser set up? as aposed to a sub in the boot with comps in the front doors?
stupid question ad...what exactly is a street basser set up? as aposed to a sub in the boot with comps in the front doors?
Its not a set up so to speak, its a type
You have:
- SQ = Sound Quality
- SPL = Sound Pressure Level (no mids or highs)
- Street Basser = Like SPL but with mids and highs
Street basser and SPL you chase decibels and basically try and be as loud as possible
#10: Re: PG Tips Street-Basser Project Author: Jonno, Location: Boston/Spalding LincsPosted: Mon Sep 20, 2010 2:05 pm ---- ahh thats for clearing that up bud
#11: Re: PG Tips Street-Basser Project Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 6:02 am ---- Well hopefully by next season, im hoping for a complete rebuild and maybe a sponsor if i could get one......
Doubt it though
#12: Re: PG Tips Street-Basser Project Author: sam-c, Location: Uni: Kent Home: ScunthorpePosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 6:36 am ---- liking the a pilliars buddy only issue i can think of is direction it might just be the photo but looks like there pointing abit too much into the dash. ive heard of sq guys doing this and even reflecting sound off the windscreen but never streetbassers who generally want as much noise as possible in the cabin
oups did i say noise i ment sound haha
#13: Re: PG Tips Street-Basser Project Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 11:07 am ---- Pfffft
And they actual tweeters are fully adjustable
Plus i have a problem, its most likely the box, but my install only hits 134.4 and yet it has almost triple the power of someone elses, yet they can reach the same score almost (132)
Why is this?
#14: Re: PG Tips Street-Basser Project Author: Ali_H, Location: Chichester, SussexPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 12:32 pm ---- Remember that each DB is doubling the volume... so yours is in actual fact nearly 5 times as loud.
#15: Re: PG Tips Street-Basser Project Author: sillyhilly, Location: The Mean Streets of CoventryPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 12:50 pm ---- No trolling going on here today, but thats a brilliant install. Top marks for doing it all yourself as well!!
#16: Re: PG Tips Street-Basser Project Author: Spanerman, Location: Neath, South Wales.Posted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 12:56 pm ---- I like it, but i would get a propper ported box made, the difference would be night and day.

Sam.
Yeh, thats the plan for the scooby
Steal the stuff out of this one, and put it in a proper mini tunnel box in the scooby
#18: Re: PG Tips Street-Basser Project Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Mon Oct 18, 2010 8:37 am ---- Still got problems, the drivers side components are not working
Cleaned the earth point with p80 till shiny, took apart amplifier and lock tight'd the screws holding down earths in the amplifier and done up any other screws holding connections
The component amplifier is hooked up to the exterior fuse board though, could this be the problem? Or maybe a break in the wire, but it will cut in and out of playing
The passenger side will cut out sometimes, but rarely and before i cleaned up the earth i could hear my engine through the speakers?

More than likely, or the terminal ring just isnt getting an earth
Apart from that, any ideas why drivers side cuts in and out? And is distorted before it cuts out?

Are the RCA feeds okay? And got another amp to try it? Even if it means using a sub amp and feeding each speaker separately to test.

Ash......
If i give them my 14001e, it will rape my speakers so much it will be unreal
But i will see if i can find one
Oh i've already changed my RCA leads, but i will swap them again and move the earth to a better place? Or use a smaller terminal so it actually touches the bolt?
Love ya ashh
Oh and yes, liams is mental, i aspire to that car

You have to remember they are in a different league, much more space to work with
Please say your intrested in the shizzle, we need another mind on board
Any previous install's i should know about?
#28: Re: PG Tips Street-Basser Project Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Thu Nov 11, 2010 11:38 am ---- Component amp fixed, bloody RCA's fall out from the vibrations from the install
But who cares, its coming out for a bigger one
Though be it, will i see much gain from doubling the power? But keeping the subs inverted but porting them correctly?
