#1: CD's Fabia vRS Author: CD-B3, Location: Salisbury / New ForestPosted: Sun Sep 19, 2010 3:37 am ---- Got round to taking some pictures at last, I was so busy last week.
Note that it has done 400 miles including from Manchester to Salisbury, and it still looks pretty clean
Spec:
PD130
1.9 TDi
Ecotech Remap to 180~bhp
Whiteline Rear ARB
Mintex Pads & uprated discs all round
Koni Dampers & Eibach Springs
K&N Apollo Air-intake
Parrot Bluetooth hands free kit
Cruise control
To come:
PD150 turbo (or some other larger turbo)
FMIC
Sort out the cold air feed to make it a neater. - Done
Uprated clutch
Then another remap.
Fit the original vRS alloys. - Done (Refurb at some point)
Spray front chrome grill black.
Maybe colour code door handles.
I had to pick some people up last night after they had been out in town.
Got beeped at by my local car-park cruisers & heard someone walking by say 'That is a sexy car'
Unfortunately it was a bloke that said it
Just about the right amount of space for a FMIC?

Got the 205 for fun

#18: Re: CD's Fabia vRS Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sun Sep 19, 2010 10:12 am ---- The Fabia VRS does seem to be a bit hit or miss with people. They remind me of the class nerd. Very competent at everything but somehow hard to love. It's a bit ugly and they've tried to improve it with the wheels and bumpers but it's still the class nerd.
Half the problem is people would tend to buy them for sensible reasons - value for money, 5 doors, decent MPG and insurance grouping. There's none of the hot hatch glamour with any of that lot.
They do an equivalent Polo don't they? I'd prefer that although no doubt it's more expensive but it doesn't try to stand out anymore than other more basic Polos.

Around the track it got ahead and stayed there. It didn't increase the gap though despite its power and torque advantage.

I paid 6k for it.
45k miles & full Skoda service history & original alloy wheels with new tyres.
Plus cambelt & waterpump done 500 miles ago.
#28: Re: CD's Fabia vRS Author: jimmyfloydreturns, Location: SittingbournePosted: Tue Sep 21, 2010 1:21 am ---- I had one - great everyday car, plenty of power as standard (was quicker than my 206GTi) and frugal.

looks a good buy mate, 6k aint a bad price for these, i wont take one anyday, bet it feels like a tank compared to the 206! get them chav rims sorted asap though, coosack grey for the standard rims would look sweet!
#30: Re: CD's Fabia vRS Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Thu Sep 23, 2010 12:48 am ---- Being quicker doesn't mean you're having more fun though. The magic just isn't there with diesel engines in hot hatches. If you just want to cruise down a motorway or any other road using the mid range you'll be happy though.

I do about half and half of motorway & country lanes.
Its a nippy car for what it is, a hell of a lot of torque.
Its a much different drive to the 206, a lot more powerful, and pulls like a train up hill. Going around corners it feels different but I'm yet to safely be able to test its limits.
Love the fuel economy, I've managed to get 62mpg over a 50 mile run & 33mpg when giving it some beans in 3rd & 4th. The 206 got 16mpg when I took it around Rockingham
I do about 20,000 miles a year so until I can afford a 2nd petrol car this will have to do

I'm thinking about it, the one made by Forge it a silly price, £600+ for just the IC, pipework is £250
But there is a Seat Ibiza IC mod that people do that is about £350 in all.
However it requires cutting the crash bar forgemotorsport.co.uk/...ct=FMSKINT
Got a few bits arrive for it today, the original cold air intake that goes to the grill, battery cover. Also bought a kit to allow wiring in my iPod head unit. Damn I hate CD's, always rolling about
The car had its first problem yesterday. The drivers check strap was making a clicking noise.
I phoned the garage for a quote & they said bring it over and we'll have a look. Upon inspection they found that the bolt holding the check strap on had come loose causing a little play. A couple of seconds later and it was good as new

#35: Re: CD's Fabia vRS Author: twed207, Location: borders, near carlisle.Posted: Thu Sep 23, 2010 3:51 am ---- yeah, forge are far over-priced. there's the cupra twin pass which seem to be one of the best. a few 207 owners have gone for that one, just need to move the crashbar out about 10mm.
there's a fairly large twin pass one on ebay from the intercooler king... i should have got that one! lol
#36: Re: CD's Fabia vRS Author: PugJH, Location: NorthantsPosted: Fri Oct 01, 2010 4:25 pm ---- I think this is a great car, and im looking to buy one of these next year sometime, loving the fact it looks understated and that it has 5 doors, not to mention the fuel economy while still being a nippy little thing
#37: Re: CD's Fabia vRS Author: CD-B3, Location: Salisbury / New ForestPosted: Tue Oct 05, 2010 12:35 pm ---- A few new updates.
I thought I'd tidy up the engine bay a bit as I wasn't happy how the cold air feed to the K&N Apollo induction kit was fitted.
Then I noticed this...
Full of holes so the cold airfeed was pretty pointless, so I decided to put the standard airbox back in.
Removing the K&N
It seems to have been rubbing on the cold airfeed, almost to the point where there's a hole (top left of it on pic), so this filter is going straight in the bin, its also packed with dirt & dead flies.
A new filter & airfeed are on order, I was surprised as its only £40 for both.
New pannel filter, just a cheap one for a short period.
Compared to the old one
How the engine bay is now looking.
Sorry for the poor quality pic, only had phone camera to hand.
I was going to put the OEM vRS alloys back on this evening but the weather looked a bit threatening.
#38: Re: CD's Fabia vRS Author: twed207, Location: borders, near carlisle.Posted: Wed Oct 06, 2010 1:21 am ---- how about using the PD160 intake and cold air feed? alto of folk seem to go for that dont they?

I had a good look into the PD160 intake, basicly its overpriced & over-rated.
Seat drove up their prices when people caught on about this mod.
A used one recently went on eBay for £65, they used to be £30 all in new!
Plus I'm incorporating the PD130 intake funnel onto the end of the cold airfeed, would be more efficient than the PD160 any way
I do love this car, last night it beat a bloke in a Vectra 2.2, this morning it got 57mpg

Swapped over the wheels last night to the OEM ones
Bumps are softer & acceleration feels marginally faster.
(I still haven't washed it, I'll see how long it goes until it needs one )
