#2: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Mon Sep 20, 2010 11:42 am ---- went to castle combe last weekend for the Ajec Action Day, had a brill day, was on the track twice, both in the moring, one at half 9 which was fun as the track was soaking, and went sideways everywhere, but the seciond session was good, but did get held up by a pleb in a scooby that wouldnt let me pass but got passed in the end :assassin:
here are some pics of the day,
heres a vid of the 1st session, as you can see, i was hiving fun in the corners

i thought they only did a gti-6 looks like a nice car though mate
is it not an xsi with gti-6 engine?
I see engine swap pics there but dont know what they are
looks nice though, im not normally a big fan of 306's, but this looks neat
#5: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Mon Sep 20, 2010 11:48 am ---- they did ive converted my XSi from the old 8v engine to the gti 6 lump,
#6: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: meady, Location: basingstokePosted: Mon Sep 20, 2010 11:49 am ---- i see pics but half the time i dont know what they are of
#7: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Mon Sep 20, 2010 11:50 am ---- Really like it, looks nice and tidy
#8: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: Dabamash, Location: The car in frontPosted: Mon Sep 20, 2010 11:52 am ---- I'll be honest and say i'm not a great fan of the alloys. Apart from that though, it looks great. Nice job mate
love this pic XD .. nice car nd good job keep it up
#12: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Thu Oct 21, 2010 2:38 pm ---- Well just been tinkering with the car again, i bought some new adjustable gear linkages for my shed just fitted them and what a swine it was to get the old ones off, but finally did it soo much difference for the better, works well with the quick shift that is on there, so all in all a good buy
Next on the list is to get the tracking and balencing sorted and sort either the wishbones out or something in that region as ive got a random wheel wobble goin on, and i cant find why its happening so once that is sorted i can move on to rebuilding my new beam
no pics as it was getting dark and i was getting frustrated
#13: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Tue Nov 23, 2010 12:23 pm ---- well, still having probs with the idling of this shed, but they will soon be sorted hopefully when i recieve the new ICV sometime this week. Got some shiney bits for the pug tho well one is sort of shiney and the other not so, but there new for me, so all is well, one is a PTFE gasket for the inlet manifold and the other is a machined ally bung for the underside of the inlet manifold
so hopefully once these are fitted i will have a few more BHP in the bag, well about 2 or 3 maybe, but will make it sound better there is a resonator under the inlet which is being replaced with the bung and aparently gives a abit more lb/ft and bhp, how true that is i dont know, but i can give it a swift go, even if it doesnt add anything, it will make the induction roar a touch louder with the PFTE gasket aparently this decreases the inlet temp somehow therefore makes the air a touch colder which means abit more power so good times, i will update with info if it feels any different once fitted.
#14: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Tue Dec 14, 2010 6:19 pm ---- Well i think its time for a bit of an update. For the past month or so i have been suffering from a stupid idle problem i couldnt find the cause of, changed allsorts to no avail, so thought i would pop on my new bits that i have had for a few weeks, so onto the pics.
removed inlet
bit of a closeup of all the valves looking fan-dabi-dozie
was abit worried that the valves were bent or something but im happy with the outcome
the inlet
as you can see, the tard who had the inlet powdercoated didnt take the coating off the face of the inlet so it was all bubbling and not fitting flush, so that is now down to bare metal and flat again.
some insides of the inlet with the coating in them, (hope all is well with that)
and here it is with the bung in place
next on the list now i have done that is to clean the head and fit it all and hope my idling is fine.
should be another update of the outcome of the bung and ptfe gasket if all is well with them
#16: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Wed Dec 15, 2010 3:47 pm ---- well here are a few more of the pics what i got tonight
clean face of inlet (took me ages)
gasket in place
all pretty much back together
well, so far i have sorted the idling problem at long last soo happy about that, and with the removal of resonator i have noticed a slight increase in the induction noise and seems to pull abit better aswell, not sure if it has done anything with the bhp or not im not too sure on but will find out next time its on the rollers
#17: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Tue Jan 11, 2011 12:23 pm ---- thought i would get some pics up of how it looks atm, bit of a mess, needs a good clean, had a good opportunity to take some pics while at work today when a nice car parked behind, **pics taken with s***ty Iphone 4 cam**
and thought i would try HDR off the cam for the last pic
next load of pics will be of it clean
#18: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Tue Jan 11, 2011 12:34 pm ---- Like a lot, love 306s as well good job on what you've done keep it up
#19: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: kieron, Location: in the housePosted: Tue Jan 11, 2011 1:38 pm ---- looks good, i remember reading this project on pug306.net i was hooked did it hit 167bhp if i remember right?
#20: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Tue Jan 11, 2011 1:40 pm ---- erm, last rolling road it went on got 161.8bhp with 146lbft, and it was running too lean, but all that is sorted now, so should be around the 167bhp mark now hopefully, going to a rr meet next month
#21: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: kieron, Location: in the housePosted: Tue Jan 11, 2011 1:42 pm ---- the one with PSOOC or have pug306.net got one coming up?
#22: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Tue Jan 11, 2011 1:44 pm ---- nope will hopefully be with gti&rallye owners if not pug306.net are having one next month i think in the midlands

#24: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Tue Jan 11, 2011 1:58 pm ---- yea hes still on there, and still very much a tool, i don go on there much now tho tbh, turned abit s**te,
#25: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: kieron, Location: in the housePosted: Tue Jan 11, 2011 2:02 pm ---- i still have a look now and then but have not posted for a while, this last time i went on was when the forum layout changed
#26: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Mon Jan 17, 2011 3:19 pm ---- well i was bored with the plane looking engine bay so thought i would freshen it up abit by spraying a few bits got these to start with but will be doing the cam covers then giving it a real good clean, heres from start to finish
all clean
sanded
primered and sanded
colour coat
ECU cover with final coat of colour
battery cover with 1st coat of lacquer
all done with rattle cans in the garden in the cold with halfords own sprays
will update it again once there fully dry and ive wet sanded and polished and there back in the engine bay
#27: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Tue Jan 18, 2011 2:10 pm ---- put back in the engine bay now, only probably is that the engine is minging, and they look silly being the only spotless things in there but here are the pics
once fully dried i will be taking off again and wetsanding so they are silky smooth and polish up so there shiney clean again
#28: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Wed Jan 19, 2011 5:56 pm ---- well, its been for a wash and wax and been to get some pics, its in desperate need of a good detail, but that can wait for another time
#29: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Thu Feb 03, 2011 12:17 pm ---- WetSand Time
Following on from spraying and letting the lacquer harden, i thought it was time to wetsand and polish these bits not finishd them yet, but did a quick tester last night, was wetsanded with 1200grit as i didnt have any finer, so here are the pics,
Half sanded half polished
heres some with a torch to show minor swirls (which will be gone)
was polished with my machine polisher, wasnt done properly was only testing as only passed once for about 1-2mins, but will get done propper once i get time
#30: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Thu Feb 03, 2011 2:17 pm ---- Why are you spending time painting plastic bits and making them pretty but not cleaning all the other engine bay parts?
It's like a woman rolling around in a muddy field and without having a wash she puts all her makeup on. A clean engine bay is much nicer than a grubby bay with some tarted up plastic parts.
#31: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Thu Feb 03, 2011 5:05 pm ---- i donty know if i said in a previous post or youve missed that part, that i will get round to cleaning the other parts of the bay, as im not doing it all in one hit, doing it bit by bit, so will do it as and when i have time, atm its dark when i get home so no point cleaning the engine in the dark, but i can do the spraying bit in the back garden as there is a light there
#32: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Thu Feb 03, 2011 7:10 pm ---- Love the car mate. I really like 306's. I am seriously considering it for my next car. I'm told they handle even better than a 206.
#33: Re: Pug 306 XSi-6 Author: blade, Location: ManchesterPosted: Fri Feb 04, 2011 10:53 am ---- muchos better than a 206 and with a few choice suspension mods will be even better then
