Project Banned

Hello,

Never ever thought I was going to do a project as I didnt think my ideas and my car would be good enough. But I thought, "Awk why not?".

Why 'Project Banned' I hear you ask? Because as some of you may know, I was banned from driving for 9 months for speeding. I am due to drive again on the 1st of July and I cannot wait. Yes, I was speeding and it was wrong and I will not do it to the extent I did then again (since some people will ask I done 84mph in a 50 Embarassed ).

As I said, my car isnt the nicest. It was bought for me Xmas 08 and it was a bog standard Pug. A Y-Reg with nothing exciting to note. Unfortunately I dont have pictures of the car when I got it but I took some today.

So the plan is to do all my main modding until I am driving again. However I was sacked in November so I havent had the money, but I just got offered a job today so everything is back on track.

So I bought a new interior from Full_Throttle which I am well chuffed with. I also bought a small silver arial(sp?) and SP gear knob. I am doing some painting of my strips, also got some ultra twin halo lights from GayBay.

As for the future of her, I have plans. White alloys, sports front bumper, mesh grill set, phase 2 washers, fog lights, central locking, electric mirrors, an alarm fitted, blue sunstrip, blue pedals, some rear lights, colour some more interior, maybe some light tints, and might lower it a bit at the back.

So here is my car today,

The rear part of my interior,

Here is the part-time painting studio as it stands with my front and back strips, window wipper cover and boot lip.

Here is the wing mirror cap that I done,

Here is my white and blue vents,

And here is my Ultra Twin Halo lights I need to fit,

UPDATE: 07/03/2010

Got these finished today but I am working on colour coding my door handles (interior and exterior) so I cannot fit these at the moment.

These are the neons I bought and I am waiting for my mates uncle to do my central locking. I will ask him nicely to do this too.

UPDATE: 10/03/2010

Eventualy finished my center console. I went with the white slider. Also painted my exterior door handles. Well chuffed!!! What you guys think?

UPDATE: 13/03/2010

Got some painting on the go. Done my badge and surround gloss white and my calipers blue, to contrast with my white alloys I have just bought.

2 pictures of my white badge...

Another 2 of my caliper Very Happy

And here is a picture of the wheels I bought :D:D:D:D

UPDATE: 14/03/2010

Well today I finished my interior (bar my drivers seat), I think its looking pretty cool.

Also decided to tackle my twin halo lights. Got them fitted but hit some problems which are still to be fixed. I think these take years off of the car.

UPDATE: 23/03/2010

I decided to attack under the bonnet the the remaining paint I had.

UPDATE: 13/05/2010

Well I eventualy bought my full sp grill set idividualy for a total of £120 - steep I know but worth it cause its rare to get a non-sports grill and once you pop you cant stop..
Quiet a dull day so I appologise

Also when it was a better day I took some pictures of under the hood. So I popped the bonnet to reveal this!!!

Cupra R splitter is in the post, central locking is defo getting done in the next 5 weeks. So its all looking good!!

UPDATE: 14/05/2010

So eventualy fitted my pedals after a year and half. I think they look superb and match the colour of my car very well.

UPDATE: 24/05/2010

I have my splitter fitted now and I think it looks the dogs man dangle's. I also bought a spoiler from ebay, in my colour, delivered to my door for £44. Bargain! Just waiting on my tiger seal to come through before I can put it on.

So here is the splitter.

Love it!! My next wage is going towards the £65 charge to get my license in my hands. I wont be able to drive obviously but its for ID purposes etc. Then its my pressed number plates, central locking, and my wheel bolts.

UPDATE: 28/05/2010

So the spoiler is fitted and I am over the moon with it. Happy as larry!

UPDATE: 14/06/2010

So nearly 2 weeks till I get my license back. I wont have the car exactly the way I wanted it but I was out of a job for 5 months of the 9 month ban. As the title says, its a work in progress - so slowly but surely I will get the wee Girl Thingy looking the way I want it.

I got the bolts for my wheels which was a huge relief, also got my number plates in, and I know there technicaly not 100% legal but I wanted a plain and simple look on the car.

Sneak peak of the wheels on, still to get the other 3 on. LOVE IT

And the new number plates...

And in comparison

Need it sorted by the 25th as I am going on holiday up north with the car, my step dad will drive it up. So all I need is an MOT and tax. DONE.
Watch this topic..

UPDATE: 19/06/2010

Well not so much an update, but a show of my lights on at night, since I have none.

Weather was good, I decided out of excitment that its only 2 weeks till i drive to take some pics of my sexy lights. I will change the side light to a nice white LED bulb, and sorry for the S*** quality - the sony erricson.

I just love them. Well well well well worth the £74 I paid. Happy days!!

UPDATE: 23/06/2010

PASSED MY MOT!!!!!! Couple of small issues, the rear level gauge is F****d, wishbones might need replaced soon too. Apart from that she is perfect.

Took some pictures before work today with my wheels on. Love them. I know the car is dirty. Pictures will go up on Friday with her all clean and ready for me to drive.

UPDATE: 05/07/2010

I can legally drive now.

My family and I went upto Aviemore for the week and it was on the Wednesday I could drive again so my step dad drove it up and sat there tempting me in the amazing weather. Wednesday came and when the clock struck midnight I was out and about. Felt great. It was as if nothing had changed. It was amazing.

So took some pictures when I was up with the nice scenery and all which I will put some up here and I will create a photoshoot thread with them all on.

As much as my car isnt 100% the way I wanted it for driving, its not far away. So over time and she will be perfect.

Thanks to everyone on here who has helped me with my car with advice hints and tips. I couldnt of done it without you.

UPDATE: 30/1/2011

Got big plans for the year ahead an so cracked on with buying some stuff. Plan on keeping the car until it dies, so spending more on the mechanical side of things.

Bought a new check strap, also phase 2 washers. And I am getting a new fuel filter put in as the car is juddering badly.

Also had some knocking noises from the back when I brake heavily, so going to get that sorted too.

The plan is to buy my mods as and when I get the dosh, then on a weekend of good weather and off work, I will do everything in the oner so should look a different car!

Watch this space

UPDATE: 11/03/2011

Well, I had a crash, simple as that. Ran into a Range Rover. Pics;

I swear I will do all I can to keep it on the road and restore and improve on the looks it had only a few months ago.

UPDATE: 05/04/2011

Thank f*** for that, everything has now been bought. The radiator, fan and housing is on its way to the mechanics as we speak. The bonnet arrived primed so need to get it painted somewhere. Its been 6 weeks off the road and I feel like I'v been banned all over again.

My friend who used to have a show 206, but then wrote it off, gave me a ripspeed DV720 CD/DVD player, with a fold out screen. Looks really good. So spoke to my dad who will have a go at fitting it, but I said I wanted to upgrade my speakers, so going to fork out for them too and fit them all in the oner. But not right now, as I am using the banks money lol.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So what you people think? I want all comments possitve and negative.

Thanks for reading and looking.

JDave

not bad son. still oem mods, (apart from the halos) but majority of the time, OEM is nicer.

IMO, i think a set of SP arches, 15" sirocco's, lowered 60mm all round, and spoiler and that'll be the daddy

What you mean by 'oem'?

Arches was another possibility but I havent seen any in my colour or price range.

You know of any good scrappies around our area?

Correct!!! In a nice blue and I plan to wire them up when Tom puts up a how to, no rush.

Joe wrote:

Well tbh I dont plan on naming all of my mods. If something happens to my car and I loose the things un-insured then so be it on my head. When/if I get my alloys I will tell them of that. Apart from that at the moment I havent got any major mods apart from painting really lol.

Also, I have finised painting my strips and window wiper cover and put them on. Looks awesome. Too dark now but I will put picks up tomorow at some point. Love the look.

Just noticed your project : vents look great in that colour - really stand out and the lights look good.

Good spray job, I try and do all my spraying myself as well, I find once I start a project it's really difficult to stop.

Anyway good luck hope you get what you want.

Great progress mate, i'd get a spoiler and an interior for it now though, and get those white sciroccos on they are amazing!!

Engine bay looks good mate i would go for some white bits rather than orange, blue and white theme is nice but when you start adding more (contrasting) colours it can get a bit hectic and start to look a mess

Keep it up though looking better and better

Just bought myself an SP grill set. It was all separate so it was £60 for the bumper grill, £18 for the upper and £45 for the bonnet grill. So quiet pricey but I couldn't turn it down. I think it makes a massive difference to a 206 so I had to.

Also, done some work under the bonnet giving it a good clean and some lick of paint.

ALSO, going to buy some pressed plates to replace the manky stained ones I have at the moment.

Finaly my neighbour owns his own garage and he is going to sort me out with an MOT for when I get my ban lifted on the 1st of July, so without a doubt the car will be road worthy by then. I cannot wait!!!

Its not too hard. I had no experience when I started. Just take your time with it. Its easier for me cause I can sit with bits off my car no bother but others cant.

Dont hesitate to contact me if you need advice for it but I am sure there are millions of better painters than me.

lmao. Well I can assure you I wont be speeding by, a steady 29mph in most cases.

In a weird way though, I am absolutely shitting myself getting back behind the wheel. I have had nightmares were I go in my car and just f*** up - accelerating insted of braking etc.

Also had another one where I was shaking and could only do 5mph on the motorway at Glasgow Fort.

Bad times.

lol. i wouldnt worry about it man. you'll do fine.

i crashed my old car in 2008. lost control of the back end when a van cut me off. almost went head first into a fence, but managed to spin it so the passenger side took the brunt of the damage. i was driving only a couple of hours later lol. i was shook up, but not a scratch on me.

best thing to do is just sit in the car, get used to the feel of it again. if you have enough room, you can drive it forward to your garage door, and reverse it till JUST before it goes onto kerb. while its in your drive, its private ground Wink

so you'll be able to get re-aquianted with the car Very Happy

Really like the cc'ing on the dash looks awesome. Bit ot but how did you get banned for 84 in a 50? surely that's only 3 points max.

Nope. Letter of the law states if your going above 30mph of a set speed limit, it can lead to an automatic ban.

Really? damn that sucks, I thought it could only be more than 3 points if it was twice the speed limit or over 100 (motorways etc). Only heard that from word of mouth so I guess it was just rubbish.

Well the lawyer I had said it was all upto the judge and there was no set rule for it. I was hoping that he was in a good mood, turns out he was only in a good mood to drug dealers and fraudsters but not me.

I quote him saying "Doing that speed is ridiculous! 9 month ban and £250 fine"

Right well I have got myself a CR splitter already cut to fit my bumper - just need to pop down to B&Q to get the self tapping screws for it.

Also just won a spoiler already in my colour for £44 from ebay. And again I need to buy some glue for it as I aint wanting to drill my car.

So by next week these both should be on, also if there is a how to on the neons, they too will go in

Well tbh I dont plan on naming all of my mods. If something happens to my car and I loose the things un-insured then so be it on my head. When/if I get my alloys I will tell them of that. Apart from that at the moment I havent got any major mods apart from painting really lol.

Just to let you know if they find out they will void your insurance and then hardly anyone will insure you again.

The vents just pop out. Use a screwdriver. Then when they are out you can see at the back they all detatch. Really easy mod to do.

Cheers pal for the comment. Means alot to get some praise.

I bought the paint from a local paintshop called Scotpaint who make it to the exact colour match for £8 for a spray can. I went there first and I was very very happy with the match so I consistantly when back there despite the slightly high price.

I know halfords do paint but I have never tried it and I wouldnt trust it tbh.

Hope that helps

Rights, its been a very long time.

The power of driving has got to me and so I have mod'ed the car since the last post. Driving is the most under-rated thing ever.

Anyway, only thing changed is repairs.
-new window since it got smashed
-new power steering rack
-new fuel filter.

Oh the joys.

Anyway, got big plans this year. Watch this spot!

It's alot simpler than it looks and sounds. Use a flatheaded screw driver to wedge it out from the side, it quiet easily pops out. Then dismantle it and spray away.

Worth it imo.

Picked the car up today from the garage. £188 for a new steering rack - needs must.

Yeah, I honestly coulnd't do anything if it was slightly complicated. I still have neons sitting in my cupboard cause the wiring scares me.

There are a lot of how to's on here, and as I have said, I knew nothing before I joined here, so ask away and there will be help. Promise.

No I looked in my yellow pages for paint suppliers, phoned about to see which ones done rattle cans, then picked the cheapest! And as far as I am aware they have to be exact match so no worries.

Where as I heard on here Halfords is sometimes a bit off.

Shits went down in my life just now. Don't know if I'll be keeping my car for much longer so for just now all plans are on hold.

As difficult as walking in to any Peugeot / Citroen main dealer's parts department with the paint code & asking the person behind the desk to sell you some paint.

OR

If you cant be bothered with that find your local automotive paint supplier & get some spray cans made up.

Search the forum and use the paint code guide.

Right. Well. As mentioned a while ago, I had a bump with a Range Rover and nearly wrote the car off. So anyway, long story short. I got the car running but I had a primed grey bonnet on a blue car.

I priced it to get it painted and the prices varied from £140-£310. With my previous experience on painting, I thought. For £40, Ill try it with cans. Thats right, cans!!

I broke my shoulder so I wasn't driving anyway, so I struggled to take the car apart and I painted away. At the same time, I saved up and bought SP arches and painted them too.

So, the finished article. A very dirty, muddy article;

Oh and also, a wheel bearing on one of my wheels was majorly buckled so I had to buy new alloys. And I got these for £100 with new tyres, bargain.

I understand there would be a better quality paint if I got it proffesionally done and oven baked and s**t, but on a budget, it does the trick.

Opinions?
