#10: Re: Roof scoop anyone done one ? Author: CD-B3, Location: Salisbury / New ForestPosted: Wed Oct 06, 2010 10:22 am ---- On a road car they do nothing but capture air & slow it down by causing drag.
In rally cars they use roof scoops as an alternative to air conditioning.

#12: Re: Roof scoop anyone done one ? Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Wed Oct 06, 2010 11:08 am ---- without the heater box in the car and poly windows there is no cool air... believe me, with no insulation on the floor it gets very hot. The roof vent channels cool air to the driver/co-drivers faces. not really good for road use though

so are you going to fit one as well?
#14: Re: Roof scoop anyone done one ? Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Wed Oct 06, 2010 11:14 am ---- I have ordered several but with the diagonal on the cage and the shape of the roof curve it has proved difficult to find the right one yet. I would fit one next year for the summer rallies if it gets silly hot but I am leaving it for now as it is a non-essential in the winter
#15: Re: Roof scoop anyone done one ? Author: MFACTOR001, Location: sheffieldPosted: Thu Oct 07, 2010 3:58 am ---- Thanks for your comments
This is to go on a real car not comp
Game lol
The air will feed air to the blowers
IFf I go ahead I will modify the roof liner and add an undertray which will then have a pipe going down the left front pillar to blower
I am considering doing this as I am currently making a bonnet and the current air intake no longer exists on the bonnet which is the one feeding the blowers now
#16: Re: Roof scoop anyone done one ? Author: MFACTOR001, Location: sheffieldPosted: Thu Oct 07, 2010 4:00 am ---- If I do not go ahead with the roof scoop I will be looking into other ways to get air in to the compartment where your drivers side leg sits
Maybe cut a hole out and duct air to it ?
Any other suggestions ?
#17: Re: Roof scoop anyone done one ? Author: Spanerman, Location: Neath, South Wales.Posted: Thu Oct 07, 2010 4:53 am ---- A 206 allready has vents to channel air into the cabin, cutting the roof will play help with your resale value
Sam.
#18: Re: Roof scoop anyone done one ? Author: sillyhilly, Location: The Mean Streets of CoventryPosted: Thu Oct 07, 2010 4:59 am ---- Surely a bonnet one is better than the roof?
#19: Re: Roof scoop anyone done one ? Author: Drake, Location: MidlandsPosted: Thu Oct 07, 2010 5:29 am ---- Only look decent on Rally cars IMO.

#24: Re: Roof scoop anyone done one ? Author: st3v3n, Location: Liverpool Drives: 206 GTiPosted: Sat Oct 09, 2010 5:17 am ---- Bit of a s**t way of doing it don't you think? Why not take the air from inside the wing? Just fabricate something to stop the s**t getting in.

Ye will probably go down that road for the browsers
I was thinking about adding the roof scoop but don't want it just purely causing drag rather it put air somewhere.
#26: Re: Roof scoop anyone done one ? Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Sat Oct 09, 2010 6:39 pm ---- why not put a vent in the wing?
#27: Re: Roof scoop anyone done one ? Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Sun Oct 10, 2010 2:35 am ---- Just an idea... why not fit the vent in your door card, If you remove the front arch liner you can see thru to the leading edge of the door, Cut a hole below the wiring duct, add a peice of ducting of your own. Refit arch line to act as splash guard and you will get air from outside and no visible vent hole..... Mini dash vents or similar would mount in your door cards
#28: Re: Roof scoop anyone done one ? Author: PhillipM, Location: RotherhamPosted: Sun Oct 10, 2010 3:12 am ---- One on the rear clamshell of the rally car but it's there to blow cool air across the bulkhead to block some of the engine heat from the cabin.
