#1: multiplex or pre-plex? Author: TomMessenger, Location: Ipswich-ishPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 2:43 am ---- Hi all,
Sorry if I've missed it somewhere - I have searched!
How do I tell if my car is multi or pre plexed? I haven't got it yet (hopefully this week) but it is a 2001 Y reg 2.0 HDi.
Cheers

I agree,
More to go wrong and pre plex more simple
#7: Re: multiplex or pre-plex? Author: eddrj, Location: BerkshirePosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 5:13 am ---- probably pre- plexed if its 2001
#8: Re: multiplex or pre-plex? Author: V9977, Location: Athens, GreecePosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 6:51 am ---- Phase2 came in 2003 but you could always change the light units to phase2
if you had the appropriate size wallet I think.
Non-multiplexed pugs are perfectly fine to be honest.
But then I would say that wouldn't I? (see sig.)
#9: Re: multiplex or pre-plex? Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 6:54 am ---- Can you actually tell when your driving and generally using the car what the difference is? Apart from the stalk, hazard button etc. Only have pre plex myself never understood what the difference was apart from it's just a different system so don't really work together.
#10: Re: multiplex or pre-plex? Author: V9977, Location: Athens, GreecePosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 7:00 am ---- Afaik, they started multiplexing electronics on cars as a matter of course
due to the increasing number of equipment which would require an ever
increasing size loom and number of connectors etc. Appart from this economy
I can't for the life of me think of any other advantage really.
It should not affect diagnostics capability although in practise it might.
