On my '02 plate GTI 138.
On the previous version of 206info there was a rolling road dyno test at RSTuning and my car came second-highest for power against other GTIs that had live remaps (Red.Dot mainly).
The angel tuning remap on my car made it faster and more responsive, but also more flexible and economical.
It was the best modification on that GTI I ever bought tbh.
Any good remap will produce extra power & torque - generic or not.
If you have cams/decat/manifold mods/induction kit (rather than panel filter) then a live remap will make the most of your modifications.
Your money, your choice!

Quotes vary, but you know when your car is remapped (by a good tuner)

When we did the remap meet (Hopwood M42 services) there were 2 GTI's that were remapped (and both have now been sold!).
I got [typically] 2-3mpg more after the remap, it was faster anyway but more economical overall.
Obviously we got a group buy, which cost about £200 per car from memory.
But yes - on my STANDARD 206 GTI 138, the (generic) remap was worth it.

Kayleigh's standard 138 managed 131bhp on the rollers, and Chi's got 125bhp before he had his remapped (at RSTuning Leeds)

#14: Re: mobile remap for a gti Author: NVMotorsport, Location: West MidlandsPosted: Thu Oct 21, 2010 2:03 pm ---- what people seem to forget.. is that all engines of the same derivative came out of the factory with the same ecu, that is why the ECU's have fixed fuel and igntion tables but have compensation maps to help the slight differences in each engine. Hence to a certain degree the standard ecu will learn and adapt to induction kits and exhaust sytems. On older cars like the 206, there are tried and tested maps be it generic or not. They run powerfully leaner and stronger and only benefit an engines power by percentage. So if your car is down on power a remap will only increase by a percentage. We have a list of tried and tested power figures from cars we have remapped and tested. This shouldnt be taken as gospel, but as a guide to the increases available.
We can however do a custom map, but is not of great benefit until you change cams or compression ratios.
