#1: Using a 2nd hand ECU Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Wed Oct 13, 2010 2:00 pm ---- So here's a question...if I got hold of a 2nd hand ECU and simply plugged it in obviously the engine would run but what else wouldn't work?
I'm thinking if my original ECU is fried in some way by dodgy wiring up can I fit a 2nd hand ECU? My Omex runs the engine but will the standard Peugeot ECU still run my clocks and fans etc?

Yeah, or just get the bsi with the ecu and it should be ok

#5: Re: Using a 2nd hand ECU Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Wed Oct 13, 2010 2:12 pm ---- It's not multiplexed (So I don't think there's a BSI) and the Omex runs the engine and bypasses the original imobiliser.

Yeah there's a BSI on all 206's mate, they just don't do as much on the non-plexed. If you look at the drivers fuse box, the bottom row of fuses are attached to the BSI, if you stick your head under you can see the box

#8: Re: Using a 2nd hand ECU Author: GazRG, Location: Bournemouth/CardiffPosted: Thu Oct 14, 2010 10:08 am ---- I was going to reply to Edward's post - as Lee says, every 206 has a BSi.
#9: Re: Using a 2nd hand ECU Author: colinn, Location: IpswichPosted: Thu Oct 14, 2010 11:00 am ---- I think you would need ecu, bsi and key transponder - which is how they are normally sold - all together
#10: Re: Using a 2nd hand ECU Author: st3v3n, Location: Liverpool Drives: 206 GTiPosted: Tue Oct 26, 2010 11:50 am ---- You should use the omex to run your fan really. I'd trust that more than the original ECU if the omex is running everything else. (blue wire with black trace)
#11: Re: Using a 2nd hand ECU Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Tue Oct 26, 2010 11:54 am ---- I'm going to wire in the Omex soon. I'll keep the original ECU running the low speed fan for the airconditioning (if it stops working it's no big deal) and wiring the Omex into the original Peugeot high speed relay. Hopefully. Anybody see any problems with that? I'm currently thinking the original ECU will just control the trigger to the relay and not the actual power supply.
#12: Re: Using a 2nd hand ECU Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Tue Oct 26, 2010 2:50 pm ---- I'm sure there is a resistor inbetween the relays and fan, that goes to the ECU
