are you talking about the one that is close to the cars ECU,in the drivers side?

If so,it's an easy job,you need to place the lift or you jack under the engine, but you need to be careful with the oil container,so you don't damage it,then you move it up so that the weight on the mount go away, and you can take it out easily,so the jack support the engine now,get the new engine mount on,and then do the process backwards.

Good Luck

well the one we r talking about consist of 3 mounts in total,as you can see there is 2 small ones (left and right) according to the center of the large one, that is fixed on the chassis, this one is usually worn out, because it hold all the weight of the engine, and the job of the upper 2 is when you change gear, the engine go back and forth,so they absorb the shock and make it un-noticable,keep me posted, hope all well work well.

ah thanks for that, min has lost one of the smaller ones, hence why it feels like the front wheels want to change direction when you allerate /back out of the allerlarator, ill have a better look this evening and work out exactly what i need

You'll also need a chain type oil filter remover to unscrew the old mount.

The black rubbery one is the one you'll be removing. Has the ECU been removed before? They are held on with security nuts and need cutting off. You need to remove the ECU to access the engine mount.

changed the top mount yesterday, hell of a job but got there in the end, hardest bit was getting the old one out no space!! and then line the engine up with the new one.

anyway it was all in vain as although it has stopped the engine moving about so much, i jacked it up today and relised that the drivers side trailing arm is fecked!! on the hunt for a second hand rear beam now, mot is 2moz hopeing it passes then change the rear beam, then she going up for sale

My 1.4 hdi is similar with a main engine mount and smaller buffer rubbers to control fore and aft movement of the engine. I noticed that the ally beam (for want of a better word) from the engine sits fairly close to the large buffer rubber at the rear but there is a gap of about 3mm between the beam and the front smaller buffer rubber, is that correct?
