This is true of petrols too - and they are more responsive & rev higher.
Add a supercharger too and well, - goodbye
#13: Re: So.. How many huh? Author: silver_v, Location: AmpshirePosted: Tue Oct 19, 2010 1:15 am ---- Yea but factor in adding a super charger to most 2nd hand cars then factor in buying a 2nd hand diesel and mapping it

Author: pudmonkey, Location: EdinburghPosted: Tue Oct 19, 2010 2:58 am ---- Really disliking my 206 these days, had it almost 2 years now and fed up with the crap build quality, squeeks, rattles, niggly little problems all the time etc etc etc. However i have spent so much on it in the last 2 years that ive decided im just going to run it into the ground and start putting money aside so that when the Pug does die i can put money down to get something decent....which basically means not another Peugeot!!

Don't do it, they are all fecked as almost all have been chavved and thrashed to bits, or will have a big rust hole before long.

Oh yeah it will def be the 150 version, but i heard the 150 sport button version is rubbish *mate works at vauxhall this was about the astra tho* mainly as the 150 is a lie as the 180 on 206 is. and also the 150 veccie engine has several problems. I looked into the figures of mapping the 1.9 150 and they can indeed reach damn good figures.
150 with box = 195ish
150 with remap = 185 but your talking better design on the mapping so its no just over fuelling
120 with box = 170 and the 120 version has less engine problems, so its a hard choice.
or find a 150 thats had the engine upgrades carried out *2k worth of fiddling so it never happens again* and then remap that.
Also i dont like the astra altho i did look into it as above, but they are tail happy, especially the 5dr, which is the reason im getting a vectra with the benefit of 5doors
#29: Re: So.. How many huh? Author: doughboy5, Location: devon(weekends) nr cambridge(in the week)Posted: Tue Oct 19, 2010 9:30 am ---- the veccies have a s**t gear box same as the astra. my mate had to get a new gear box after 45k on his astra and has same gearbox and engine as the vectra and the dealer said they have quite a few problems as they dont handle the the 150bhp power to well.

I find it hard to believe that a front-engined, front-wheel-drive hatchback is truly tail happy.
Drive something mid-engined and rear wheel drive in the rain to really get the idea of 'tail happy'

Yeah FMR or RMR would be a nice Fish happy device lol, luckily i dont have one, altho i had a lovely Toyota Hilux 4x4 back in the day, and that was lovely round roundabouts, few bags of sand help, keeps the weight down, even tho you'd expect it to sway more having more weight, mind you a 2.4diesel pickup is only 112bhp for a vehicle with a curb weight of about 1200kg single cab.
Astra - It wasnt tail happy due to rear wheel drive, because it isnt, it was tail happy *possibly wrong wording maybe more draggin it a**e is a better way of saying it* i didnt try the 120cdti or 150 it was a smaller petrol, that lacked power even felt it compared to my 1.1
