MK1.5 front bumper fitted. Side skirts ripped off. The primer grey was just to cover up some bare metal!

Not bad progress, seen as I have only owned the car 10 days.

Got to do alot of work on the rear quarters now though.

Going to change my plans alot now as I didn't thnk I would have this much bodywork to do.

Wheels should be on next weekend Very Happy

ive been following this on facebook and on here, and i can only credit you for saving what was, lets be honest a heap. But i dont get it..surely a plain start would have been easier, then you know the car is yours with everything you do?
i just get the feeling once you've finished it, people will always remember what it used to look like...
Hopefully im wrong, and it turns out to be a show stopper, but ive got my reservations on that one, sorry bud

This is a fair comment.

1 reason why I wanted this car is I know the history. My bro in law owned it for 2 years. Subura mechanic so it's been mechnically looked after. Paid £1500 for it, 04 plate with 47k on the clock, new timing belt, waterpump, clutch and MOT

2nd reason is all the parts I have sold have gone on bits I need so as of yet I haven't put any money out.

And look at the title Rags to Richs Very Happy

All this progress in 10 days! Only 7 months to finish it Very Happy

To be fair i'm proper f****d off now.

Yeah I know I should have bought a standard car but looking at it now it's proper f*****g me off.

Basically the have hit the rear quarters right in to add the skirts, then filler the rear arches all the way to the rear bumper. And there is surface rust on the rear quarters.

Then the front arches they have bent in, again to fit the skirts, so now with the skirts off, on the front you can see the little kick. Doesn't bother me BUT the passenger metal wing has a crack in it, probably from the stress of putting the bend in it. I wondered why the rear of the arch liner had a massive gap.

Can I ask why you didn't just buy a standard one if that's what you want to get it back to short-term?

As a standard one would be around £3000, and I only paid £1500.

Haven't spent a penny on any mods or anything yet. So it's not bad, and people will look at what it was like before, during (standard) and after Very Happy

Well nothing rear interesting.

Change a rear wheel stud in 5 mins, and cleaned my Idle Control Valve. So it's running a little better.

Fed up of the s**t ride quality and the fact that it bottoms out most of the time, so next mod will be coilovers. Probably lower it a little more than it sits at the moment, but won't slam it until shows as the wife drives it alot more than me, and I value my sump Smile

Also looking of a way to fit a 52mm pod but it's doing my head in.

Im amazed in the difference between the normal ones and the "r" ones! I managed to swap my 4300k normals for "r" ones and they are loads better and dont throw the beam pattern out on reflector lights.

Well went to fit everything yesterday.

Front shocks wouldn't go through the top mount. After a lot of swearing and researching found out FK sent me a VW kit. After a few phone calls to the Ebay seller FK are sending a new set direct to me.

Very bad news though. Both rear dampers are gone, one comes apart and the other one has no gas in. There are no bushes on the rear end at all. As soon as you jack the car up you can move the whole wheel anyway you want. Needs new sway arms and control arms as they are all bent and buckled!

On a plus note strut brace fits Smile

Well 3 hours on the car yest.

Door strips smoothed.

Then 3 and a half hours to change the suspension on the rear. Bushes were f****d, arms bent and nearly every bolt had to be cut out! So much better now though. Rear is as far down as it will go, lifts a rear wheel when cornering hard Very Happy

Only problem I got is the ABS light is now on. Disconnected battery, waited, and reconnected but it was still on. Took connectors out and put them in again, took battery off and it's still on now. ABS is working but when you slow down for a junction or traffic lights you can feel the pedal kicking in!

Aren't you wrapping the rear quarter? Unless I'm going mad it's black?!

I think the mirrors spoil it, colour coded base plates never really look right, there's a reason why they're usually black plastic as standard, it follows the line of the window better.

Not alot has really happened.

Pulled it out of the show season early. Wrap was starting to have snags and nicks in it where people must have been pushing past.

Yeh as James has already said, Fuzzeebear is my nickname but the whole fuzzeebear automotive thing came about when talking to my dad about starting something up.

We've always bought, repaired and sold cars and there hasn't been one where we haven't made money on it, so thought about expanding it a bit with the whole modifications side of things along the lines of what Project Kahn has done but on a more affordable level. So doing what I'm doing with the XSi and SW, tastefully modifying them but adding something to each one that hasn't really been done before i.e. GT bumper or just the whole look of the SW.

In the way of mods we'd be looking at every possible aspect to make the car as unique as possible, so wheels, stance, bodywork, audio etc.

I've been talking to Dan a lot since he's started this project, discussing what can be done to make it look unique and whats to come it will stand out from the usual Focus purely because were going to be thing which haven't yet been done. Currently have custom suede/alcantara in from abroad etc for the retrim on the car and having a few bits which haven't been done on a focus, but it's all a matter of it going in for a respray. Once that's done we'll make a start on the rebuild for the show season next year.

in about a year to a year and a half i'm getting given an 08 plate Seat Leon FR 170Tdi for free, will have less than £40,000 miles on it, and will have had a few engine bits done to it Wink

You gave me s**t for stickerbombing not being original lol and then you go put those mirrors on and camo on your roof??? 'facepalm'

The mirrors were already there when he bought the car and being replaced for standard ones. Camo is less common than Stickerbombing. Every tom d**k and harry has posted a pic on Fast Car since they did their stickerbomb edition. Oh no 2 camoflagues are the same so it's all about the originality.

Dan get your indicator bulbs changed for chrome ones.

Uz- What im saying is he blew smoke up this project and in my opinion its failed to materialise, when i did the bombed pieces on my old gti i didnt claim to be a trend setter.

So after dicking around

2012 mods have started

Off comes rear bumper

On goes new one, cut properly around the exhaust Smile

Front bumper has had lower grille removed, cut the 4 slats, then removed the rad plastics to make it a proper wide mouth Very Happy (haven't seen any others like this)

Fitted a tegiwa plate bracket then

Thats it for now, need to resmooth bumpers and doors, then paint.

The roof is a good idea and looks very cool

but I don't think it works well with the Matt paint on rest of car, also the wing mirrors are gloss is the rest of car going back to gloss?

last night, me and UZ made the final list for the car. not a lot to do, just a few little touches and small mods. Fed up of constantly ploughing money into it, I could go on for ever.
