#1: engine blown Author: gushi, Location: uttoxeterPosted: Sun Nov 07, 2010 5:43 pm ---- HI my engine has just blown on my 206 1.4LX. I understand that if I am to replace my engine it has to be the same one with the same number.
Is this correct. If so where do I find this number please help.

Being as its a 2000 its preplexed so whatever engine you get will have to be pre-2001
#6: Re: engine blown Author: gushi, Location: uttoxeterPosted: Sun Nov 07, 2010 6:58 pm ---- Many Thanks.. is this all I need to know. Does it have to be fitted by the garage mechanic or can it be fitted by a novice with some mechanical experience.?

If you've got some mechanical experience you can't be a complete novice. I reckon if you make plenty of notes & take loads of pics of what goes where & with a Haynes manual, you can do it.
#8: Re: engine blown Author: T_bandery, Location: East londonPosted: Sun Nov 07, 2010 7:04 pm ---- You better get a garage to do it if you use the car daily
if its a second car or something then there is no harm in trying but get a haynes manual first

#16: Re: engine blown Author: LilLew, Location: PlymouthPosted: Mon Nov 08, 2010 2:06 am ---- personally i would say do it yourself and just label eveything that plugs into the engine
after that you can really get much wrong just check every bolt and check again and finally for safety check again
it would benefit you to get a haynes manual you will have to read it upside down tho (they can be a little bit confusing)

it might be less 'confusing' if you didn't read it upside down.

Wrong!
Multiplexing has nothing to do with the engine. It might change some of the ancillaries but the engine block and head remain the same. So for anybody after a replacement engine they just swop over their existing ancillaries if required.
