Hi all,

New here, so go easy on me!

I've just sold my current car, a Mercedes CLC 180K Sport Kompressor and the Peugeot i got is bought from an employee of my dads business, he needed to sell ASAP, so i've got it at a bargain price.

It's a year 2000 Peugeot 206 GTi in its standard form and it's only being used as a stop gap really, but if i really like it ill keep it, or at least pass on to my girlfriend.

Still trying to learn how to navigate the forums, but i just have a couple of questions....

how often does the cambelt need replacing and what does it roughly cost ?(i would take it to a garage to do)

what are the service intervals?

is there any faults a should look out for?

I normally do all my research BEFORE buying the car, however i needed a car ASAP and this came up at a great price, so didn't have time to do my homework!

Pick the car up this weekend as the guy i'm buying it from is putting it through it's M.O.T today.

I'm not overly worried about anything as the car seems to be in good nick and well looked after. The only fault really is that the drivers seat is a bit tatty, but i've seen some seats on ebay for circa £100, which is a bargain considering i had to buy a wing mirror for the Merc, which set me back nearly £300!

After coming from the world of Mercedes Benz, it's really refreshing to see, what looks like nice cheap car to keep and run.

Thanks for any helpful comments you may post.

Welcome, where abouts in sheff are you from?

EDIT: cambelts can be around £350.

Look out for ABS faults, airbag lights, there will be a rattle at 3000rpm, dont worry about that its the manifold heat shield. Im sure someone else will give you some more pointers
