Title says it all really, this was the first time:

And on tuesday night when I was staying at a mates house near London Road, the house got broken into and the car keys were stolen Evil or Very Mad

Just as well it was parked a couple of streets away...

So, does anyone know roughly how much Peugeot charge for a replacement coded key??

Not sure about a 206 but for my phase 3 306 it would cost me £177. But I got hold of an old shell from a scrappie for free (snuck it in ma socks) and a local shop made the key and even coded it for £30.

Hmm not putting shef on the holiday list then, the key's aren't that bad it's the chip might be worth seeing how much it would be to change the bsi second hand weigh up the options.

Does mine have a BSI? Its a preplexed xs...

We had only been in the pub 10 mins when we had a phone call to say the house had been broken into. That was the longest taxi ride of my life.

It was such a relief to see the car still there though Smile

Hard to tell which one's do and don't have BSI's i have gien up trying to work it out Laughing I would guess if it has an immobiliser there is a strong possibility Lee will know for sure.

Bet it wasn't a nice journey back to the car, but it is still there not giving up on you Wink

It is indeed, it was alarmed, immobalised and deadlocked with the steering lock on... this would usually be a good thing but when some c*** has stolen your keys it leaves you pretty powerless Sad

all depends where in sheffield you go, i avoid london road at all costs as abuse usually gets shouted if you're walking on your own. Some parts of sheffield are actually quite nice. Wink Lucky the car was still there mate, hope its not too expensive to fix.

Don't get a new key mate, replace the locks. The last thing you want is the car disappearing 6 months down the line.

ah man that's sh*te!!

i live in barnsely which isn't that far from Sheffield!!

I've also got a 2002 Vectra 2.2 SRi 150. Bought it from a lad at work that had basically thrown away the transponder chip from out of his ONLY car key!! Something was rattling about in his key so he took it apart, found what he thought was a little bit of useless plastic & chucked it in the skip!!

I could've bought a new transponder & paid an autolocksmith to code it. To do that though I would've had to give Vauxhall £28 to obtain the 4 digit code for the immob!! Then another £10 for a transponder chip & about £70 for 2 new keys as i'd want a spare. Then would need them coding which is about £60!!

Instead I just bought a full ECU/immob, lock set & 2 keys off of Ebay for £80. Fitted the parts myeself in about 45mins!! Everything works fine!! Very Happy

I asked this the other day, they can make the ECU think its only got one key for £60 but they could still open your doors if they wanted, to change the lot they said its around £600!!!!

park your car there again, and hide next to it, with a weapon of your choice.

Can't really slag of Sheffield off, my girlfriends car got the exact same treatment in Lincoln. I've lived in the Sheffield area for 23 years been driving for 6 years and never had my car touched (touch wood!) then again, I don't live near the Manor Estates lol.

Don't suppose you left your stereo on show or anything?
