Because gunmetal is very dark, almost black anyway and i think it will suit the car, especially as my wheels are going gunmetal too. I was quoted £500 but because my brother knows the guy he's said he'll do it all for £200.

Yeah, just too low. I'm not a big fan of when the top of the tyre is hidden by the wheel arch. Just my opinion though, I'd have it up to match the front. Plus, if my car was that low, on the roads over here it would be bottoming out everywhere lol

So you prefer it raised??? How can anyone prefer a 206 at standard ride height to lowered???

I'd prefer it lowered. But after discussing it with my dad, who was a mechanic for like 25 years, I decided against it as the 206 isn't designed to be lowered and would wear things like the steering rack out faster. Also, and I'm sure i'll get many people now say they've never had a problem, but I've got friends with similar cars to the 206 and after lowering have had problems. I'd want it done properly aswel, so the full kit. Which I can't afford to do.

I'm just gonna wait till I get a proper car that is meant to have adjustable suspension.

The company I'm with on the island gave me full no claims discount after 4 years. When I turn 21 in May they'll give me the full no claims certificate thing so I can go to a different insurer if I want to.

I've been on a motortraders policy for 3 years and other insurance companies don't except any years no claims built on a motortraders policy, plus i wrote my 1st car off so i'd only have 2 left anyway. So i was looking at insurance companies and they wanted over a grand from me but Admiral only want £600 Smile

£600 for a 1.4? Is that in your own name? Admiral want about the same from me for my 1.6 without my no claims.

I was only on lanes out in the middle of nowhere! Plus i was also only doing 20mph so not exactely driving dangerously ha ha.

Oh the mini..basically we got it at work from some drug company, it's a stress releaver, made of spongey stuff that you squeeze and go ''aahhhhhh' lol. I took it home and my dad altered it to look like my old 106, he cut the front corner off and glued a bit of the outside back on so it looks like it's rammed another car up the a.r.s.e lol. It's a constant reminder to me Smile

Your like the millionth person to say that lol, i know!! I can't afford coilovers tho and they're the lowest springs you can get so it's gonna be like that for a while :). It doesn't look so obvious in real life honest!! When i bought it, i wanted that sky blue colour but having got the moonstone, it has come to be my favourite colour 206 so i'm very pleased about that :).

The side strips and front & rear bumper strips are being sprayed in 2 weeks, along with the roof Smile but they're not going colour coded or black like most people do...oh no..they're going gunmetal Smile So are my wheels!

Coilys aint too bad these days, have you looked into Jamex?? you can pick them on ebay brand new for £150, and they are actually suprisingly good, i have a set on my new Astra Van, and you can get it well on its a**e. I thought what is the point in paying £300 - £400 when when you dont even keep the car for years on end and take them on track days. So for general road use them Jamex's are MINT!! Camber Adjustable too if you want the tyres to slant in. Here even got a link for ya at bottom of this comment Wink

This is me van, and they go a lot lower than that: - i have had to put em up as it was getting on me nerves lol: -

Also get the GTI 180 VORTEX wheels and colour code them, would look gorgeous :p... Did you say your roof was going gunmetal too????

Thanks for the link, i shall keep that :D. I LOVE your van!!! Looks sick! are those Team Dynamics wheels?? because they look identicle to my brothers Team Dynamic Equinox's:

No point writing little bits of text is there, gets a little boring, try and get convo goin dont ya :)......

And 10/10 for observation, they are indeed Team Dynamic Equinox's, they have actually stopped making them now which is a shame, and they very nearly didn't go on this van, as only had 3 when i got em and i could NOT find a 4th to save me life.. So tell your brother not to loose one or any of em, as he will have a nightmare on is hands... Why would you want £1000 tyres on your car as well, for road use too lol???

No it wasn't that long to be honest, it was just more than i was expecting but that's nice because you put the effort in lol Very Happy

Yay lol, i bet you didn't think i'd know what those wheels are did ya? I like to suprise people :). Have they? I didn't know that. What a pain tho, not having a full set! Andrew sold his for £450 lol, he wanted rid of them. He didn't spend a grand on the tyres!! That last pic is of his new wheels! They are Ultralite Nurburgs. The tyres were exspensive tho because of the make and stretch but i don't know what they are lol.

Right so today i managed to borrow a couple of my mates steelies to put on my car temporarily so my bro can spray my alloys gunmetal 2 at a time. Only thing is, the steelies are 13''s and my alloys are 15''s lol so slightly uneven at back and front, however, with my car being so low at the back, it kinda evens the front out a bit more, by having smaller wheels, it brings it down a bit Smile

Check out these little beasties lol:

It's 80mm at the front and 100mm at the back, whilst having my front wheels sprayed i borrow some 13'' steelies which brought my front down so it was even with the back but it was very impractical to drive around in and was damaging the car so i'm glad i've got my 15''s back on, even if the front does look higher!

Looking very nice Sarah.

Though I don't like the exhaust and I think it's too low at the back, but that just me.

What's next?

Thanks, i will eventually get a proper exhaust but i can't afford one at the moment. Yeah i know it is lol, i did have the front lower for the past two weeks whilst i was running on smaller steelies but it was ruining my car so it can't go lower at the front and i've already had the back raised once, not doing it again, i love how it sits Very Happy

Erm what's next...i will get my drums painted black and the calipers silver, then smoke my fogs, re-spray my bonnet vents and front badge surround gunmetal as i did them black months agao, before i got all the gunmetal bits done, then that's about it, project complete! I'm not lifting the back Very Happy

Yes it is a crappy plastic one that sticks out too far which i sprayed gunmetal. I hated it at first and thought about changing it but it's kinda grown on me now as it's different to everyone elses lol so i've decided to keep it Smile

Lol, it's just the standard exhaust with a shiny tailpipe welded on that sticks out a bit lol but if ya like it then thats cool Very Happy

Yeh i really want nice plates but i can't afford them atm, maybe in the near future Smile

I totally agree with what your saying about things being different, i don't want to be a sheep and do everything that makes everyone else happy, thats why i have it so low at the back and haven't got the lions in the center of my wheels, and got my strange tail pipe and my funny looking petrol cap lol

Alot of people comment on my car mods saying i should change them to 'normal' ride height, 'normal' sp fuel cap, 'normal' tail pipe and 'normal' Peugeot wheels with lion centers. I appreciate their comments and opinions as i like getting feedback and i agree that their suggestions would make the car look nice.

But then it wouldn't stand out for having things not normally done and that's what makes my car personal and unique to me and thats how i like it Very Happy

But you can't have my wheels because i love them lol. I also love the lowness :), would love the front to be as low as it was when i had 13''s o the front but unfortunately it was smashing it up a bit so can't really go lower but i like how it sits so it's all gooooooooooood Very Happy

Are they saxo VTS wheels? or scirrocos?

It does sit rather nicely. My idea of low is stupid to be honest. This is my old Polo which I thought was just low enough for me...

So yesterday i pressure washed my car, went round it checking for scratches and dents as i always do, i had already noticed a little red paint mark where some p.rick has opened their door onto me in Sainsburys car park at the weekend, but thats only on the very surface and will t-cut off. However, last night i had to nip to Sains so now i park on the very end space to try and reduce the risk of anyone bumping into me. Then this morning i find this on my rear bumper strip:

I don't even know why i f.ucking bother paying £200 to have my car sprayed for some stupid c.unt to go and bump into the back of it as they obviously can't park for s.hit. It's completely taken the top layer of gunmetal off, right down to the primer. I'm so annoyed, more upset than anything as i'm now going to have to pay a professional at least £50 to have it taken off and re-done. So who ever drove in to my car last night. Thanks alot areshole and kindly f*** off and die!

Yeah it really does :(. Not much point now, it's only a chip in the paintwork, if they had rammed it and dented it then i would but i don't think it's worth it for this.

Hey, yeah it is, i had it on my 106 then transfered it onto the 206. Took me, my brother and my bf to fit lol as one had to hold each end on to keep it in the right position whilst the other one screwed it in place (no pun intended)

Ok so my brother very kindly re-sprayed my front badge surround and bonnet vents gunmetal today as i had sprayed them gloss black before deciding to get my roof and other bits done in gunmetal so whilst he was spraying those two bits he decided to do my windscreen wiper cover aswell.

Now it all matches, how exciting Very Happy

atm i got a home sprayed sports bumper needing some rubbing compound and polish to finnish it off, a badgles grill waiting to be painted, a set of nimrods with the wrong sized tyres that need changing and a half finnished home made ipod dock, should get half of these things done by next week with a few bits and bobs selling ont' ebay and money coming through tomorrow. but omg the list of things i still want to do is longer than my arrrmm! tis still better than my old car though no matter what I do to it, very proud of it atm.

me new one is better but nothing can compare to my first car, i remember the day it came out of the factory (02/01/02) and it was always serviced on time, not cleaned though, went through two minor crashes several bumps, batterings, baisically 104000 miles of pure abuse and it never once did not start, somtimes some small electrical niggles but nothing that would stop me or mum getting to work. and then I hit the ice... and then the wall Sad

You bought it brnad new?? Ha ha i got 130,000 miles out of mine :D, mind you i bought it with 96,000. And i ended up in farmers fields on several occasions, never rolled it tho. But i ended up ramming a Saab 93 convertible up the a.r.s.e last March because some silly bint pulled out of her drive without looking and caused the Saab to jam her brakes on and then me, only my brakes were shocking in my 106 so i swerved to go round her at the last min and took my passenger side of the bonnet out Thumb Up lol.

So it's a nice summers day and my family decided to go for a Sunday drive through the lovely Suffolk countryside and we come across a pretty ford. It looked really shallow so i get out and stand on the bridge to get a shot of my brother driving my car through it.... not realising it was quite this deep, but he'd already committed to going through it before we realised so had to continue, car is absolutely fine and i got a one-off shot as wont be doing it again!!

id check your airfilter isnt damp after that if you have a standard airbox as knowing the way that air intake routes the resonator box is probably full of water now Sad

The air filter is absolutely fine, because the cars so low, when it hit the water at speed, the water couldn't go under it so it went around it so no water went in the engine bay amazingly enough, we checked afterwards, all dry!! Even the windscreen didn't get wet lol. It looked really shallow, we could see the bottom but obviously it was misleading ha ha, was fun tho Razz

my only criticism is that its too low on the rear. Raise it by 15-20mm, then would look better. just IMO.

It sure has! Only in looks though, i haven't done any engine mods, can't afford to! Thats everyones critisism lol. I know what you mean, but instead of raising the back, i'm gonna bring the front down lower, then it should look even Very Happy

Cool, that would make it even. However the reason for my remark is that the rear wheel looks too "buried" in the rear wheel arch. My suggestion brings symmetry back to the rear wheel. Just my opinion, ignore it if you like.

Yeah i see what your saying but that's what everyone likes the look of and i want to be different and if that means people don't like it then that's how it has to be because i don't want to be a sheep and follow how everyone else likes to have their cars lowered if that makes sense?? I absolutely love the way my car looks, the 'buried' look i think looks brilliant.

The front still needs lowering, i will bring it down more but there's no way i'm raising the rear! I want to be as low as i possibly can without destroying it lol Smile

i quite like it, looking at the pics from the beginning to how it looks now, 1000x better now than what the other mods, not a fan of lexus lights, angel eyes or anything like that. Liking the wheels black, think it suits it, do a gree its a lil too low at the back, just an opinion...

other than that, spot on Smile

Thanks :), yeah i like the transformation too! I don't like lexus lights on 206's either, but i've always had angel eyes on my cars and i love them. The wheels aren't black, they're gunmetal but they do look black in the pics i must admit! Yeah i know, everyone says that....lol

A Laguna splitter from Seat? You getting your cars mixed up Razz lol...

I think your thinking of the cupra type r splitter though Razz Which used to be £30 from them, however they've hiked the prices up and they're now £46 inc. VAT.

I think the Laguna one is about £60 from the stealership last time I heard..

just got throught reading about 15 pages,

your like me you like taking pics of ya car, you should see my facebook (search for either "ghosty" im the guy in teh penguin suit, facebook.com/jthegod) i have literally 200+ of various cars i have owned, including my 206 in firedance orange, with a very nice gloss black contrast thing going on.

love the pics of you modeling with the car, i would lofve to of had a girl model with mine but sadly i didnt get any takers :(.

as for your car, like everyone else has said the back looks too low, and need the front to match (but that is just my preference, if you like it then thts good enough), mine was 60mm all round on rock hard springs, and dampers running 17" team dynamics pro race 2, so every bump felt like a massive hole in the ground, next 206 will be a more modest 30mm all round and thats it.

besides that the colour is a personal fave, apart from white and possibly firedance. the contrast of gunmetal works very well, like you say gloss black is what everyone is doing (mine was done for me).

you say your moving over to the darkside (jap) what you thinking of getting, I also have a white EJ2 civic coupe im trying to sort out, pic in my facebook profile.

I will be moving to the Jap side, but not for a few years. I aim to get an mx5 mk2 and turn it into a little drifter. I saw your pics of your civic, my boyfriend has the hatchback eg one, slammed, striped out with a roll cage and dc5 bucket seats Smile

LMAO, no i was not hitting on you (no offence) i dont actually know you so that would be a bit rude, as for the facebook thing it would take to long to link every pic so its easier just to direct someone there.

thanks, yeah my security on there sucks, everytime they change something my settings go to pot, probably cuz i access it on my mobile, my laptop, my tablet etc, i have to keep it sort of open otherwise things dont work. it used to be setup that only my profile pics/car pics could be viewed everything else was for friends or family, got to love facebook always changing the rules.

thanks the car was bought with 75% of the work done, so i didnt have to do much to finish it off.

yeah i love the EJ2 it has everything i could want except a rearend atm due to rust, my mate who works in a garage is sorting it though, hes had it for about 5 months now.

as for the essay, well im a training writer so yeah i do kinda write alot. lol

see another essay. Very Happy :D Very Happy

Lol now now boys, play nice! Ha ha yes that would be rude :-P. Oh tell me about it, I don't like how f/b has updated the news feed and various stuff, I dont like change! Oh right, I started my car from standard so took me over a year to gradually save up for all the mods. Your eg coupe sounds like a lengthy project, my brother has a nissan 200zx s14a and my bf has a 200zx s13 and they've both had them in a garage for months doing the necessary bodywork that no one really wants to do then they'll have to put them all back together again and it'll be worth it in the end. Ah I see, that makes sense then, once you start typing you just cant stop lol Razz

Ghosty I'm sad to say your books wont come out too well, as even a spellchecker wont help your use of "there" instead of "their".

Although qwert you can't use "your" correctly either Wink

Hi everyone, so i did some research on diesels and found that unless i'm doing over 12,000 miles a year it wouldn't be worth my while in fuel price owning one after all.

So after putting my car up for sale before i'd considered all the possibilities i decided that i'm not going to sell it now. I do love it and it's taken a long while to make it into what it is today and i am proud of it i must say. That and i cannot stand the thought of driving around in a standard car that sounds like a tractor compared to my Pug lol so that's it.

I have since taken out my own insurance policy, (now that i can finally afford it!) with Adrian Flux and declared all of my modifications at no extra cost and am starting to finally build up my own years no claims Very Happy

Thank you!. Erm i may get a different backbox for it but that's probably about it, i've got it to how i want it so there isn't really anything else i want to add now because i don't want to over-do it and i think it looks smart just the way it is Smile

Just spent ages looking through the pics (skimmed through the writing too) - you sure do like to take pictures of your car! And there's tons of subtle mods on it too. I'm left scratching my head what to do on mine now, its pretty much 100% standard.

Ha ha yeah i do get a bit camera happy! There are quite a few mods on it yes and as you said, they are mostly subtle, the only thing that isn't is the lowness at the back i suppose. well each to their own, i couldn't even begin to tell you what you could do to yours as there are so many things, i guess all you can do is browse as many progress threads as poss looking at what other people have done to theirs and getting ideas. I Only have 2 rules for modifying my cars and they are being lowered and sitting on a decent set of wheels, other than that all the additional mods just help make it my own Smile

that is very true, but if you own a diesel, you can run bio-diesel or even wvo (waste veg oil, currently i can get it for £1 per 5 litre from my local chippy) or pvo (pure veg oil, currently more expensive than diesel) so with a 50/50 mix of both white diesel and wvo that has been filtered (to remove the crap) should work out very econimical.

ill let you know how mine goes when i get one......

Shouldn't really run veg oil on a modern diesel, not unless you are wanting to replace the injectors and pump often

It can be done, but there are a few problems. Its not simply a case of using veg oil these days. It used to be, when diesels were much simpler and more tolerant of out-of-specification fuel. But these days things like calorific value and viscosity need to be pretty much bang on within spec to avoid issues. Its possible to process veg oil, or waste veg oil to more closely meet the required specifications, but you might also need to modify the car such as having a twin-tank setup and/or fuel heater. At the end of the day, do you want to make extensive modifications to the car and make a hobby out of making your own fuel?
