Im in 2 minds what to do on this one... I have been offered a 1999 1.1 206 3 door in silver for £800 with 70k on the clock, im not sure whether to sell mine (1.4 hdi 160k 5dr) for it? I love my car however i can tell its coming to the end of its life but ive never driven a 1.1, so to any owners are they any good and is this worth it? Cheers

If it was me, if the interior and exterior are good and a FSH I would get it.

I thought that was quite a good price for one really. Mines a 2002 and today just done 61003 or somehting miles.

Like Razpulsedj said, they are very nippy.

Yeah thats what i was thinking as mine will only have more issues being such high mileage and as long as this one has been well looked after it shouldnt have any issues with it for a while, im not sure how much mine will be worth in standard form though, im thinking maybe £700 tops it has fsh and is in very good condition considering the mileage.

160K on a diesel is nothing at all.

if your car has nothing wrong than i wouldn't change it at all. bear in mind who usually drive 1.1, do they really care about maintance at all?

and if 1.1 206 is nippy, then apparently 90% of the car on the road is formula 1

Going from an HDI 1.4 (68bhp) to a 1.1 petrol (60bhp) - you will notice the difference in speed and economy.
You can remap the HDI to get 90/100bhp if you need a bit more poke.

Stay with the HDI imo.

This.

I had a 1.1 for a year, got that thing was slow.
It would have trouble getting up to 70mph and any faster than that the whole car would shake (tracking etc was all fine)

I meant to write, "get up to 70 with 2 (average weight) passengers."

backward step, in my opinion.

the 1.4 hdi is going to be newer for a start, 160k on a diesel (if well maintained) isn't too bad. in comparison, 70k on a 1.1 petrol isn't that far from the end of its life either!

good points about the hdi...£30 a year road tax, 65mpg+, tuneable.

my mrs had a c2 1.1 which i believe had a slightly more evolved version of the engine you're looking at, and it was always sluggish even compared to my then non-remapped 206. at least the hdi had a little bit of oomph in the turbo band.

I've been driving my 1.1 2001 for a couple of months now and I would love something with a bit more power, it is nippy in town but uses more fuel because of it. On the motorway it takes longer to get up to higher speeds which makes you wary of overtaking, I would stick with your diesel until something better comes along
